Has anyone seen "Spectre"?

While Spectre is not the equivalent of "The Force Awakens" to the first Star Wars film from 1977 in it's similarity, the references to OHMSS hit home.

It's backwards in the plot, but Bond promises an ex-Spectre agent to protect her daughter (Draco, and Tracy)from Blofeld. Bond happens to find daughter on a remote Austrian snowy alp mountain at a health spa (it looks like Piz Gloria). Said daughter resents James Bond as a debt to his dead father until she realizes he's saved her life many times, only to save his life from a big goon on a train to Northeast Africa. Head strong daughter falls in love with James Bond.

It's not exact, but only a moron couldn't see the references.

Yes, you're right. Other references include the theme from OHMSS heard in the trailer, Blofeld being back, and the bullet hole on the glass on Spectre's poster (a reference to Tracy's death, of course).

But the whole thing felt so much better in 1969. At least OHMSS didn't try to copy older films, and had is own uniqueness.

Unfortunately, yes, I have seen it.

reply

Fortunately, yes, i have seen it.

I found it plodding and dull, and it was idiotic that they retconned Blofeld as the mastermind of all the bad stuff that had happened to Bond since Casino Royale.

Spectre is a dour, less funny version of Austin Powers:Goldmember

Indeed.
