I don't understand you people rate movies just 1 out of 10, If they hate the movie so much they shouldn’t even bother to rate it.

It is simply impossible for me to conceive how anyone could possibly give LOTR a 1 (same thing goes for The Godfather). I mean, even if, somehow, you dislike the movies, a 1?! As in the worst movie that could possibly be made - impossible to be worse? Some people clearly lack the intelligence to be voters...

Jeez guys, there is a very simple reason why these movies have 1s. Idiots that want their film to move up to the #1 spot give it a 10 and all the other films above it a 1, most likely without ever watching them. That is how The Godfather lost its #1 spot to The Dark Knight. After a while, TDK fell down but the 1s given to Godfather by TDK fan boys still remain.

Maybe if you love a movie enough to rate it a 10, you shouldn't even rate it, either? :)

I've been watching this film for about an hour and I'm bored to tears; Good, Bad and Ugly is much better and more interesting.

Well that sucks to hear. I really loved it. But hey, the GBU is a pretty incredible western, so I'm with ya there.

Stones, you are not alone. If I were to take a poll amongst everyone I spoke to about these two movies, it wouldn't even be close. GBU would win about 80/20. However, personally I feel OUTW is superior for the precise reason why so many people dislike it - it's rather slow crescendo to its denouement. This is so rare in movies nowadays that as time passes, I appreciate OUTW more and more.

Getting back to the point of the post: many people give a 10 to a movie they like and a 1 to a movie they don't like. We all know that's foolish with the 10 point system, but some people want to less than a minute on IMDB. If you were truly passionate about film as an art form, I can't see how you can give OUTW less than a 7.

There's only one film in this list (12 Angry Men) that would make my Top 25 and there are hundreds of better films out there than most of the above.

Not that any of the above deserve 1s, but sometimes they do get votes to cancel the other extreme - fanboy votes.

I don't agree that you should never rate a film a 1, but so far I haven't rated any below a 5. The 1 should be for one so terrible you can't find a single compliment for it.
