The WORST Beatles songs...

The Beatles obviously have a TON of really good songs. But I'm interested in what people think are the worst Beatles songs. I'll start.

1. Good Morning Good Morning
2. Sun King
3. A Taste of Honey

reply

I really don't like:

1: Across The Universe
2: Dig A Pony
3: A Day In The Life

reply

"Across The Universe" is a lovely song one of my Beatles faves with one of Lennon's best ever lyrics.

If you don't like the (Phil Spector) version on "Let It Be" I advice you hear the earlier (George Martin) version available on "Past Masters Vol.2" or "Beatles Ballads" (LP only here in the UK). It was originaly released on the World Wildlife Fund charity LP "Nothings Gonna Change Our Worlds", is in a higher key than the later version, has none of the orchestration but does have a kiddy choir and a breif but sweet birdsong intro.

"I think you're a load of old crap too, Mr Mulligan."

reply

Yr crazy, man!!!! Across the Universe is a gorgeous song that is so amazing that I can't even describe in words how it makes me feel. And A Day In the Life is one of the greatest album closers I've ever heard. All that great orchestral cacophony that divides the two parts of the song.

Wonderful songs.

I really have to question yr taste in music of you don't like those songs. Yr a crappy Beatles fan.

reply

So? Thats my opinion, "Across the Universe" just gives me a headache.

P.S I'm not really a big Beatles fan, I just like most of their songs.

reply

----- P.S I'm not really a big Beatles fan, I just like most of their songs. -----

Actualy I'm a pretty big Beatles fan and ultimatly feel quite indifferant towards most of their music. I guess the reason that I concider myself a big fan is because the songs I do like I love to bits.

Took everyone long enough to mention Boys! Musically and vocally it's catchy, but if any other living human beings are around my car I change this song immediately.

But "The End"? One of the worst? Come on! It features trade-off guitar solos from Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison! That puts it ahead right off!

reply

you know not of what you speak.

reply

none

reply

in my opinion i don't really like the whole album of Sgt. peppers

but if i were to pick the worst beatles songs

Maggie Mae, its only 40 seconds long but it's a waste of time
Baby, you're a rich man-It's alright but it's not the best

my all time favorite beatles song is

Across The Universe
and I also love
Here Comes the Sun

reply

I love every Beatles song ever, with one exception:
The Long and Winding Road- terrible.
But honestly besides that, every other one is amazing.

reply

1. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
2. Yesterday
3. Dear Prudence

reply

I don't Know but i seriously hate "i want to hold you hand"

reply

I dunno, i love most of the somgs the everyone have said, well excpet for revolution 9, its not that i hate it, its just long and wierd, I think the only song i dont like is within you without you, i mean most of George's songs i dont like, not all mind you but most!

reply

Mr. Moonlight (Cover)
Michelle
Tell Me What You See

reply

TOOK SOMEONE LONG ENOUGH TO MENTION "TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE"!!!!!!!

If anything that's been the worst song on Help for as long as I remember. Also I forgot to mention "Chains" and "I'm Only Sleeping" just bore the hell out of me.

"Enter the room where gold will turn to rust" - Bruce Dickinson, Taking the Queen

Yo Bruce Dickinson, I'm happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Judas Priest was the best British metal band of all time.

God, I love the Beatles pretty much unconditionally, but I seem to have a hard time getting through "She's Leaving Home". And I also kind of agree with one other poster about some of the Indian-influenced songs - but not all of them.

Is there a post for the BEST non-hit song?

I'll start:

"Hey Bulldog"

"Make fun of yourself before others do or else you'll miss the joke." -John Michaelson, circa 2000.

reply

My worst Beatles songs have to be:

You Know My Name (Look up the number)
Revolution 9
Sun King or Gnik Nus (The backwards version from LOVE)

All Beatles songs are good, but these rank the lowest on the awesomeness scale.

reply

First of all it's obvious that "You Know My Name (Look up the number)" was
done as a joke/tounge in cheek song that is supposed to be awful (at least thats the way I always took it, lol)

As far as Revolution 9; It is really not a song at all; but a bunch of various
recorded "sounds"; many of them are John (& Yoko) saying all types of strange things and making strange noises, some of them hilarious, backward recordings of orchestral pieces, slowed down and sped up, a baby cooing, a choir and dozens more unidentifiable sounds, all throughout John's repeating "number nine, number nine, number nine (Yoko: "You become naked") (John: "the watusi, the twist")
I wouldn't be surprised if there are literally 100's of various recordings in the mix, many layered over each other! I would call it more of a soundscape, to end the album before "Good Night" designed to blow peoples minds, or drive them crazy, lol!

Most of the songs people listed were some of my favorites; Across the Universe is one of my all time favorites (I think I love the version on "Past Masters Vol. 2 even better than on the Let it Be album) I also love Georges stuff, in fact sometimes I will play "Sgt. Peppers" just to hear "within' you, without you"

The songs I like the least though are the early "mop-top" songs, I love every album from Rubber Soul on, when they first "experimented" with pot & acid and started writing songs that were not always about being in love (I think the first in that catagory was "Nowhere Man")

So I'd have to go with the early (I wanna hold your hand/love love me do) stuff as my least favorite, although I can see why, when people first heard those songs they knocked their socks off, being a totally new sound.
I also am not a fan of some of the McCartney ballads like "Long, and Winding Road" & "Michelle". FINAL ANSWER !!

I have to go and watch "The True History of the Traveling Wilbury's" on Sundance now (it's only 25min. long, unfortunately!)

(Fortunately, for anyone reading this, I HAVE to go, lol!!!!)

reply

wat is rong with u fluffhead?? their early stuff is just as great maybe better
n e ways i must say that the beatles are a great band but their worst song ever is I want you (shes so heavy) sorry but it is redundant and it drags on and it is going and cuts off to an abrupt end. Creative but terrible. R.I.P. John Lennon & George Harrison

GOO GOO GOO JOOB

reply

My votes for their worst are:

I Want You (She's so heavy)--like the previous poster said--it's redundant
Honey Pie
Only a Northern Song
Come Together--Areosmith's cover of it in the 1970s was much better
Revolution 9--like it or not it WAS considered a song

Some of their early stuff isn't that good but the five I listed are just impossible to listen to.

reply

I think there´s no such thing as "the worst Beatle song",I think it is only those points of view from those so-called "fans" but are nothing but a bunch of ignorants who don´t know a damn about good music performed by the great Fab Four. Please, let all of us forgive them because they are kind of blockheads.Poor little ones!

reply

Hmmmmm--so we're the "ignorants"? Get a dictionary and learn how to put your comments in a gramatically correct way and I'll take them seriously. BTW, even the Beatles themselves said some of their work was lousy. John Lennon said he hated everything they did before "Sgt. Pepper's". Heck, he even bashed that album saying it wasn't that great! And no group has all good songs and no lousy ones. That's impossible.

reply

Well, first of all,´scuse my poor grammar,I must do something about it(as the Wings at the Speed of Sound song).
They say Tchaikovsky himself DIDN´T LIKE his Nutcracker Suite.
I HAVE NO further commentaries.
Thanks a lot.

WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!?!?!? I was listening to abbey road shortly after i posted this (and by shortly i mean about a couple of days) and I Want You (shes so heavy) played (no surprise there) and when it started I liked it! WOW! But their all time worst song... well 1. there is no beatles song i dont like to some degree & 2. i am a relatively new beatles fan being one only a few months (downloaded bungalow bill, while my guitar gently weeps, cant buy me love cover by sum1 else, and help!) and fell in love with their music but i haven't heard alot of their songs because someone i know is gonna give me all of them but is taking his sweet time but on the across the universe soundtrack i heard mr. kite and blue jay way and didnt enjoy them very much (note i have not heard the beatle versions yet) but these may possibly be their worst (dont criticize me if im rong... because i have not heard the beatle versions of either.) p.s. i love i wanna hold ur hand & while my guitar gently weeps but the across the universe soundtrack versions of them suck. Do those count as worst beatle songs??

reply

Add Revolution No.9 to the list of worse Beatle songs. So it is Blue Jay Way and Revolution No.9 as worse songs. And Revolution No.9 is a lot worse than Blue Jay Way.
