A Homophobic Remark?

Anyone notice the homophobic remark the Robert Redford made when he's talking all about the Weirdo Tenants that live there like the same sex couple that lives in 1B?,that's sounded homophobic, i think that's how thing's were in 1967,they won't use that kind of homophobic writing today, just wondering who notice it

"I gotta get somewhere in this world. I just gotta"

reply

I can't think of an earlier movie that even mentions same-sex couples. Pretty cutting-edge.

stop making sense

Yeah... It's aged pretty badly. I might let it go though, except that Redford goes as far as to call someone a "dyke" in "The Way We Were..." all because she didn't like his putridly written film. As good-looking and influential as Redford is, it does make me question his character that he's constantly playing characters that casually insult LGBTQ people.

Firstly of all he's playing a character, not himself. He is speaking the words of the character, not himself. Blame the writer if you must find blame and obviously you must.

Secondly, you call two times is a 65-year career of over 80 roles "constantly playing characters that casually insult LGBTQ people" with the last one cited being 50 years ago?

You're working hard to be enraged.
