episode Spock's Brain

did they break the prime directive by going to get spock's brain back? they definitely interfered with the planet's direction.

reply

No, they did not. Spock was not a citizen there and was taken against his will. To say that planet's society had a right to take Spock's Brain is to say it is OK to steal whatsoever and the thieves should not be punished for their actions. The end result would have occurred had the planet's natives not found a suitable donor. Obviously, no such donor existed in that planetary system. Their rights to acquire an organic brain really only extended to the culture in that society. Going the route of an organically based controller was a real outlier in the Trek universe. Every other culture that did not rely on a full bodied being or non-corporeal being did rely on a computer. The whole premise of needing a brain is baloney in my mind and I don't want to think about the experimentation that got that society to that point.

Oh please, you can't apply laws and logic to THAT level of camp!
