I've been to both places! Don't recommend the cave, it's just a small hole in a ground.

I do recommend a day trip to the Vasquez Rocks for any Trekkie who in the LA Basin with a few hours to kill. It's a lovely area, great place to poke around, and if you have a Trekkie pal along you can play "Gorn Fight".
