Did anyone else get bored with the underwater bits?

I know it's hard to have a good natter while you're a hundred feet below sea level, but it seemed to go on a bit whenever Bond or anyone went underwater.

It was like all underwater scenes (possibly apart from the end battle) were there just to pad it out and show off the great underwater camera angles they'd used.

It IS the most boring Bondfilm I know, thanks to all the underwater scenes. I think the worst of the worst is early on, when they cover up the plane. The scene never ends! The film also includes the worst Felix ever.

Yeah the underwater scenes were WAY overdone. It's a shame because I think it would have been a great movie without them... or at least if they were considerably shortened down.

Thunderball is my favorite Bond movie and I love the underwater scenes. John Barry's music fits the scenes well.

Thunderball is one of my favorite Bonds films. The part at the end witht he undedrwater fight might have dragged on a little bit but the movie is great as a whole.

Yep - massively overdone.

I used to strongly dislike the underwater scenes, but then again at one point I preferred the unofficial NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN to this film so I guess that shows what I know, eh?

But this film has grown on me steadily over the years and now I actually enjoy the underwater scenes. The actual choreography of all those underwater fights is pretty amazing! Quite an undertaking! The crystal clear presentation of the underwater scenes in the Ultimate Edition DVDs is awesome-looking! But I think the greatest asset to the underwater scenes is the magnificent score by John Barry!

Best film of 1965, hands down!

Connery, Moore, and Brosnan! Accept NO substitutes!

I didn't like the underwater fight because it was a freaking mess. Most the time you didn't know who was who. They even had to put Sean Connery (or his stunt double) on a ludicrous suit in order to make easier to recognize him.

"Thunderball" is not as good as the 3 previous Bond flicks but at least is far more enjoyable than any of the Bond flicks starring Roger Moore.

I should so fire you out of an Aston Martin's ejector seat for such heresy

I for one totally agree with you. I would definitely also add all of the above water scenes to that sentiment. I gave it a 5 and feel like I was being very generous. The film is very long and very boring for a movie that supposed to be an action filled, suspenseful thriller.

The whole movie was boring, one of the worst bond films ever.

Yeah I think the underwater scenes are bit excessive and go on too long.

Thunderball is still a very good movie.

The long underwater fighting scenes had me shaken but not stirred.

For 1965 I'm sure the underwater fight scenes were awesome. In 2010, not so much. But Thunderball is still a great Bond film, better than most Brosnan efforts (other than Goldeneye).

The underwater scenes did go on for too long but overall I think this movie is great. Perhaps someone should try editting the film down to under 2 hours with the underwater scenes trimmed.
