This film had so many plots going on that I remembered it as more than one movie. I watched it last night and it's the absolute best of the genre. Bonehead had feelings and I recall wanting to be a mermaid. I didn't miss Candy at all because the ensemble was magnificent.

I agree this is the best of the series. It's the one I'd recommend to someone who wants to know what a beach party movie is like. It has all the regular stars, and in addition there are Deborah Walley at her cutest, classic Don Rickles, and a young Linda Evans. There's my favorite song in all of the beach movie series, Donna Loren's "It Only Hurts When I Cry." And what tops it off is the insane and incomparable Timothy Carey doing South Dakota Slim with his sawmill "booby house." Some of these elements are in other beach movies, but somehow this one has always stood out to me as the top of the heap. If you like the music from these movies, Varese Sarabande issued a "Summer Beach Party" CD a few years ago with several of the best beach movie songs.
