Is it really terrible?

I see this movie shit on a lot. I'll admit I've only seen it once and I found it boring--BUT, I was very young when I saw it and was used to more exciting Hitchcock movies like The Birds and Psycho. I just wonder--were expectations too high for Hitchcock by this point? If this movie were made by another director, would the audience react differently?

‘Terrible’? It’s one of Hitchcock’s best.

Audience’s at the time wanted more ‘fun’ Hitchcock films like North By Northwest or The Birds with lots of action, Marnie is an intimate psychological thriller dealing with childhood sexual abuse.

It’s aged as finely as Vertigo, which was also misunderstood at the time.

It's a great film. Sorely underrated.
