The thing I always appreciated about Jones (and DeCarlo on the Munsters) is that despite once being an A lister she didn't just mail it in to collect a paycheck. She really was remarkable in this. I mean, the scripts were mostly garbage but she just went with the camp and made Morticia a likeable person.

Her comic timing was a pleasant surprise as well.

While The Munsters had it's charm (I guess), I always preferred Addams Family and especially Jones more than DeCarlo. I thought YDC simply put on the makeup and delivered the lines. She had energy, but it felt like she could be your average harried housewife for the time. Jones had this sizzling cool about her, and she had to walk with minced steps all the time. And she's prettier, to my eyes.

I always liked the way she was so sweet to, and appreciative of, Thing.

I had such a crush on her as a child that it wasn't until I was well into my 30's when it suddenly dawned on me that "Morticia" was a joke name.

Pity that Morticia seems to be the faithful type.

In my old age, I've become increasingly tempted to join her while she's smoking.

I know that secondary smoke inhalation can be lethal-- but what a way to go!
