Best subtle psychological thriller ever made
I saw this on TV when I was a kid, lights out, parents gone, and it scared the PANTS off of me because nothing is ever shown and is all left up to your imagination. MUCH scarier than monsters, etc.
This film is lauded by many in the film industry, for good reason. It's far more subtle than any other I can think of in this time period, or beyond for that matter.
It's very atmospheric, and the acting is superb, although some dislike Bloom's narrative/voiceover. It never bothered me, and I found her character to be both relatable in many ways, and sympathetic, although some felt her too shrill and annoying.
Great characters, great acting, great cinematography, and script. In an era full of over the top horror films, this one stands out as a subtle and powerful gem.
