❤️️Surprise Surprise!

❤️️Someone finally put this version up on YouTube! I was looking for it about 6 months ago, but it wasn't there. I wasn't disappointment for long though. There was a 1987 version of it.
Jack Lemmon
Kevin Spacey
Peter Gallagher
since I haven't seen this one in a while, I believe I'll watch!

Interesting choice. Real adult viewing. Wish we could watch it together, and I don't mean that in any other way than it would be pleasant to view and share and discuss.
Have you ever seen what I think is called The Long, Hot Summer, Newman and Woodward's first pairing?
You must have seen Hud. And The Lion In Winter.
Are you able to watch NetFlix on your TV? If so, how?

Your friend, snepts

I'd like nothing better than to watch with you and anyone else who enjoys this sort of play. This sort of thing always seems too wordy and sort of embarrassing for my husband to watch, so I watch these types alone.
I love The Long hot Summer. I have that one. I also have Hud. That is one that My husband and I like to watch together. We also like Cool Hand Luke.
Back to this sort of movie/ play though. I also have Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. That's another slice of life within a family with their troubles.
I just watch The Glass Menagerie on YouTube. that version stars Shirley Booth! I hadn't heard of that version before, so it was a complete surprise. I also posted on that board.
Another favorite is A Hatful Of Rain. Have you seen that one? It's also on YouTube!
We seem to enjoy some of the same type of stories. Turmoil within a family.... Even if we can't watch together.... or maybe we can, we can still discuss!

So how do you watch these gems? Netflix used to send people DVDs through the mail, but now I'm thinking people subscribe and stream? And you rely on YouTube to have movies you are interested in? Do you HDMI a cable from your PC to your Telly? Or is it some sort of Roku thing?
I'm way behind when it comes to technology and mostly relied on Comcast playing an interesting movie I would try to catch. However, recently I tried to trim my cable bill and now get lots of sports but not so much movies.
So how do you access film, if I may ask?

❤️️
We have Roku so we can access YouTube that way. We also get Netflix.
I have an extensive DVD/VHS collection as well, so I can stand in the middle of the room with my index finger pointed out and spin around, so to speak..... Where she lands, nobody knows! There! I have a movie!😄
Just kidding around, but it seems I have too many choices. I rely on my mood when I am picking something. Today, I sort of feel in a Tennessee Williams sort of mode.
I like a little bit of everything. Everything except action comic book heroes or the tough guy stuff like Chuck Norris. None of that interests me.
What about you?

I know this isn't like a phone call, but I'm trying to get out of the house, so I will get back to you later today.
Ciao for now.

Told you I'd be back (like in Poltergeist, haha) !
I've always found it difficult to answer when asked What Do You Like?
It's a bit reductionist, if I'm going to sound Highfalutin'.
I tend to like older stuff, but I don't want to dismiss newer stuff simply because it's new.
I'd like to hope new directors and their collaborators will build on what's come before, and come up with interesting new scenarios. And often times, they do.
So -- I like Billy Wilder, Fellini and Kurosawa, John Ford, Aronofsky.
I enjoyed the Harry Potter films and the Lord of The Rings trilogy, a lot of the Star Trek stuff.
You and your MissMargo referencing All About Eve. Totally makes me smile, and I don't even know the film very well.
The guy who made the Irish comedies, like The Commitments and where the young lady gets preggers.
So much great stuff, and you were one of the first persons I met here, so for whatever odd reason, you are the person I most want to converse with. Hope the "old man" doesn't mind. Cheers !!

A couple of unusual movies that I think about a lot are Junebug (w. Amy Adams), Bagdad Cafe (quirky comedy), the grim but absorbing The Sweet Hereafter. Was talking with a friend and randomly brought up Sweet Land, and was stunned when she said "I have that." Such a pastoral movie suits her to a T, I just figured it was too obscure.
Just about all of Wilder's films are great. Well I guess I said that already - same goes for the other directors.
I seem to have an attraction to Hugh Jackman. I loved The Fountain, enjoyed Kate and Leopold, surprisingly I like most of his X-Men stuff. I even had fun with Real Steel, basically a kids movie. Didn't like Van Helsing, however.

So that's that. I have brought up some odd gems in the past, but you may not recall. Any way - keep in touch !

Hi! So sorry I haven't gotten back to you! I saw your response this morning an planned to reply to you. I ended up completely distracted with other things.
Thanks for snapping me back with another post! First off, the old man dosen't mind a bit. He almost felt as much pain as I did when IMDb shut down it's message boards because that meant his wife wouldn't have a place to talk movies any longer. We each have our own favorite types of movies. We usually see eye to eye on the comedies we like, and we can come together when it comes to history and historic stories. I do admit though that we often pick our corners/TVs when watching movies. I love a lot that he doesn't. He's happy that I have a place and other people to discuss entertainment with!
I love Wilder, Capra, Kazan... but I also enjoy newer directors as well.
It's also funny that you mentioned Kate and Leopold. I caught that on TV quite a few years ago. It was the first time I'd seen Jackman in anything. I loved it. I am sorry to say that I never got into those other things like the x-men. It didn't really interest me.
On the other hand, I enjoy ghost stories and the Twilight Zone.
I'm always glad to visit with you. I go in moods.... Yesterday I was caught up in my Tennessee Williams/ Eugene O Neal mode. Today I got caught up in The Waltons. LOL!
I hope that you'll give that 1987 version of Long Day's Journey Into Night a look. It's a good cast. I like checking out different casts in plays. I enjoy the little differences.
Well, I had better get off my duff and do something a bit more productive around here today. I have some plants to re-pot. My hands aren't getting dirty this way! See you around!
