I hate to go to the gutter here, but can you imagine how awkward it is for a woman to be with a guy named... Dad?

Maybe it adds to his immorality. Rio saw him as a father figure only to be betrayed.

It's a nickname. He wasn't actually named "Dad".

It was his nickname and, besides, Dad calls his wife, Maria (Katy Jurado), "Mother" on several occasions.
