Where was Midwich?

The fictional village of Midwich doesn't have a precise location.

In the 1960 movie Alan Bernard tells General Leighton that something is happening at Midwich and points to its location on a map. And possibly someone could figure out what other places are in the map and thus approximately where Midwich is on that map.

General Leighton then calls the local military command to arrange for troops to meet Bernard and assist his investigation. "Get me South Eastern Command, please."

When an airplane flies too close to Midwich and crashes, Bernard decides to warn other aircraft away, and the radio operator says:

Midwich to base. Emergency.
I say again, emergency.
Warn all aircraft to avoid area,
Latitude 51 degrees, 10 minutes,
Longitude 1 degree, 11 minutes,
Maintain minimum altitude
of 5,000 feet. Out.

The coordinates given are for a region in England, one that should be about a mile by a mile in size.

The map co-ordinates for Midwich, given over the radio when pilots are being advised to avoid the local airspace, refer to the real life village of Woodmancott in Hampshire.

Later, when Althea drives Alan Bernard to London, Gordon tells her:

It's 8:15, you'll be in London by 9:30.

And I suppose that Woodmancott in Hampshire should be about 1 hour and 15 minutes from London by car.

And here is a link to Woodmancott in Google Maps:

However, the outdoor scenes in Midwich were actually filmed about fifty or sixty miles from Woodmancott, in a village often used in British movies and televisions show, Letchmore Heath in Hertfordshire.
