Worst sub film

What a boring mess of a film. Nothing much happens. Two hours of dull entertainment, and I like both James Garner and Edmund O'Brien. The best part is Andra Maritn, who's quite nice.

I disagree: While certainly nowhere near the best sub film, "Up Periscope" is not the worst. I would give that "honor" to "Down Periscope" with Kelsay Grammer. "Down Periscope" is supposedly a comedy parody of sub movies but it is just simply stupid and not at all funny. It is the worst sub movie I've ever seen.

Yes, for most snafus in one film. I mean what the hell is "creeping speed?" But for sheer ignorance of submarine operation and warfare, I nominate the sub sequence from War and Rememberance.
Al Hurlbut, IC2SS, USS Sea Cat and USS Grenadier.

Not even close to being the worst Sub movie. Robert Mitchum made one that was a huge stinker.

Presuming that you are referring to The Enemy Below. I don't know that it is a genuine stinker, but I found it to be quite unengaging. If I had to pick between that or Torpedo Run, I'd definitely pick the latter. But Up Periscope is just a little better than either of those.

When its sending you to sleep you know the film is in trouble!

Its that man again!!

It's a by the numbers sub/war movie, but I thought the story was OK and it was good fun spotting the 50's/60's TV stars.🐭

One of the better sub movies. What a terrific film! So much happens. Two hours of superb entertainment.

That’s unfortunate to hear.
