One of the most underrated endings in film history


For real, that last shot of her in the street, her back to the camera-- I put it up there with the last shot of City Lights. It gets me every time and is just so perfect for this particular story.

Stunning ending. The silence just kills you. I'm surprised it's not that popular.

I think it's fairly popular, considering the A-list actress who played the protagonist. The movie kinda dropped off in the same way all movies in 1959 have dropped off (i.e. natural effects of time), but the movie has gotten its due.

It's a notable movie among film geeks, often getting cited as Hepburn's career best-- though in terms of popularity, it's dwarfed by the more iconic Hepburn movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's and My Fair Lady.
