'Blue Peter' badges - an irony

As even those who never watched of liked "Blue Peter" will know, the only way
you can earn a badge is by appearing on the show, sending in an idea or piece of work,
entering a competition, or even...saving someone's life.

However, in the mid- to late-1990s, Liam and Noel Gallagher from OASIS earned
themselves "BP" badges, and it was alleged that they had just been 'given them'
thus spoiling the value within badges awarded to those who earned them.
But it turns out the Gallagher brothers had been rewarded with badges,
for drawings they had sent in to "BP", but which were for adults' eyes only,
and therefore couldn't be shown on the programme.

And yet a BP presenter (Richard Bacon) got sacked for taking cocaine in a pub
when the cameras weren't looking, and he was on his day off?! Oh, the irony!

I won a blue peter badge aged 7 or 8.

Sadly I have since lost it.

This means you now have to pay to get into all sorts of places!

I have two Blue Peter badges. The first one a normal one and the special edition one they did for a year. When Konnie, Liz, Matt and Simon were doing the show.

I have a sudden urge to get a Jim’ll Fix It badge. What’s wrong with me?

Imagine the looks you'd get if you proudly adorned it around your neck! 😂
