Name me a movie today that would have the line, “Monsters from the Id.”

You can’t. Contemporary audiences have never heard of Freud’s construct of “Id, Ego and Superego,” and my fucking Spellcheck is fighting me over these words. This movie was so far ahead of its time—like The Day the Earth Stood Still—that it’s stunning. I saw it and in the theater with my father, which made it special. I loved it. I raced home and looked up “Id” in my Book of Knowledge.

That's ridiculous. Freud's concept of personality structure is one of the first topics covered in any Psych 101 course. Though most people are familiar with it regardless of their formal education on the subject.

Your post also seems to contradict itself: the film is "so far ahead of its time", yet would also be lost on contemporary audiences? How does that work?
