when i was little i really liked animals and i saw this at family video so i had my parents rent it for me and this movie made me have nightmares. the only part i remember is them writing on a barn (was it?) and a horse getting taken away to be killed. it was sooo scary. of course i was like 8... i want to watch it again now, to see if i still think its that BAD.
shareGood, it should scare the caca out of you as a kid-not all animated films should be sweetness and light, or be only for kids. This was a film about the rise of a dictatorship, and as such, it shouldn't be sugarcoated.
It's a tragedy that this kind of subject matter can't be done in animation in North America and Europe a lot more-it's on;ly like this in Japan with anime.
I read the book in grade school and loved it. We watched this movie in school and it absolutely terrified me and gave me nightmares. There is something about the animation that gets under my skin, tbh I don't even like seeing the pictures of it in IMDB.
I won't rewatch it to this day (I'm 31 lol)
No good for under 12s.
