Why are the women so SCREAMISH?

They're frightened of every little thing under the sun!

I can understand a Martian weapon blast killing your pastor relative, or being touched on the shoulder by an alien, but when she's face to face with the Martian probe camera, she looks like she's headed for the hangman's noose!

And the screaming is always fucking annoying in these old movies!

Seriously, why did the men (in charge back then) always insist on these tired tropes in all of these 1950s movies? It gets TIRING after a while...

...unless of course, the men are titillated by the sound and in rescuing these damsels in distress?

Haven’t seen this movie yet, but know exactly what you’re talking about with this trope in older movies... It’s so cheese how the women see something coming towards them or whatever & just stand there screaming bloody murder. Also, they seem to faint a lot after the scream.
