I just couldn't see it happening in real life. I couldn't imagine a harboiled, cynical, sharp, and worldly woman like Mae settling down with a big, burly simpleton like Jerry.

I liked Jerry a lot, but Mae and Jerry were like oil and water - they just wouldn't mix. Women like Mae can't respect a man who doesn't have some kind of a tough streak in them.

I've known quite a few girls who left their boyfriends because "they (the boyfriends) were too nice." As weird as that is and hard to understand, quite a few women are like that.

Some women like the big, soft, harmless, teddy bear type of guy Jerry was, but not women like Mae.
