Klaatu is a littrbug

Klaatu thinks he is an enlightened super being but he is nothing but a despicable litterbug. After he has busted out of Walter Reed he steals some dry cleaned duds belonging to a man named Carpenter. As he wanders the streets Klaatu finds the dry cleaning slip pinned to the jacket. He removes it and then, without holding on to it until he comes across a garbage container, he just tosses it away. Apparently there are no Gorts where he comes from that punishes litterbugs.

On Klaatu's planet, there are Roombas that wander the streets and parks cleaning up after the super enlightened beings, who don't have time to waste thinking about bits of rubbish. Klaatu does not realize that this system does not exist on Earth.

Now that's an excellent example of thinking outside the box! And also an excellent example of why we shouldn't be too quick to judge the behavior of people from other places -- or maybe the behavior of any other people, period.
