No Birthday for Ricky

Ricky never got a birthday party! Just something I always wondered about.

Lucy had a big surprise party at the Tropicana. Not that she was aware of it! lol She just trooped in with her "Friends of the Friendless" band.

Ethel had a birthday. Of course she DID receive those awful "checkerboard britches" that Lucy bought.

Fred's birthday was mentioned in "Madame X" when Ethel thought Lucy was the thief because she took one of Fred's suits.

Little Ricky and little Stevie had birthdays. Superman came to their party.

I just wonder why Ricky never had a birthday on the show. How did he get overlooked? I think it would've made for a hilarious episode, Lucy, trying to keep a big party a secret from Ricky!

Sorry it took a while for me to reply....I had fainted when I saw somebody else actually posting a thread!

Good point, though. A Ricky birthday would've been fun. Guess it was just one of those themes/ideas that never
came up. Would've been fun in any season.

LOL You didn't really faint, did you?

Yes there are so many ideas that we can think about years later. The birthday one occurred to me because I am a big fan of Bonanza. I regularly post on a Bonanza site. Every once in a while someone laments the fact that Adam never had a birthday celebration on the show. All the other Cartwrights did though.

We have a theory that it has to do with Adam's backstory. His mother died the day he was born, so we figured it was a sad day for him and his Pa.

Don't know what Ricky's backstory would be though! Sometimes I think it would've be fun to see more of Ricky's relatives visit the Ricardos in New York. His mother only visited once. It was always so hilarious when Lucy tried to "fit in" by attempting to speak Spanish.
