Jane Wyatt - Bad casting

I'm just not buying Jane Wyatt in the role of a rich society dame who is hard hearted enough to shoot her husband. She does not pull this off, in my opinion. She's much better as a middle class housewife, which she plays in Pitfall, Our Very Own, and in her best known role in the TV series Father Knows Best.

And even though Wyatt is certainly very attractive, she doesn't have that sexy femme fatale quality that would lead a police detective to give up his life and career for her. Paulette Goddard or Joan Bennett could have eaten this role up.
