If it was to ever be remade...

If it was to ever be remade, Joe Pesci would have been the only actor I saw playing Cody. I don't mind remakes as long as they don't disrespect the original and are put into the right hands. Maybe Martin Scorsese could have directed it. With Scorsese and Pesci, where could you go wrong? I doubt it will ever happen, but that's who I saw as the new Cody.

Look at it this way. Scarface from 1932 was remade. In my opinion and many others, it is one of the greatest gangster movies ever made. But they remade it with Pacino and we got another great movie. I think Little Caesar and Public Enemy can be remade too. But like I said, it has to be put in the right hands and it can't disrespect the original.

I disagree. Pesci in this part would only be playing Pesci. And he's getting a little old for this sh***

Maybe Di Caprio would be good. He already played maniac (The Aviator), and it would be a good thing to see him play a villain.

I agree Di Caprio would be amazing, definetly the number one choice especially with Scorsese directing.
Matt Damon could also be good, I think he's given some great performance in the past but so rarely gets real interesting acting roles. Shia LaBeouf would be my younger option though or maybe the favourite in a few years time when the others are too old for the role. It's a shame Tom Cruise would be too old for the role, he is another one who could've given a great performance.

Pesci would be great- about 15 years ago. He's too old now- 69. Some of the other choices suggested, e.g., DeCaprio, Cruise, would be terrible in my view. People would be looking for someone like Cagney, and Pesci is the only one who could- at least to some extent- resemble and act like him. It would be a hard film to remake, though. Cagney is just too good and unique.

Jennifer Lawrence in the Mayo role and Walburg in the O'Brien role.

Perhaps Russell Crowe?

If it was ever to be remade- I hope it'll be after I'm gone.

You can always simply not watch.

Leonardo DiCaprio would make a decent Cody Jarrett.

Another actor, although young would be Cameron Monaghan who's currently playing Joker/Jerome in Gotham, I can definitely see him channelling Cagney in his Joker performances.
