Correct me if I'm wrong (it's been several years since I read the book), but didn't the book start of with Roark getting kicked out of an architecture college?
I would imagine that would put him somewhere in his mid-20's, so even though some of the suggestions out there are good, I think they're just a bit too old to play this role. I'd say a better choice would be Eddie Redmayne ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1519666/ )
I am struggling with Howard myself. I see a much younger man in my mind, I just can't put a face with it. I'm still looking, hoping to update my selection. I will remove Gerard though, he has the same problem as Gary Cooper, too mature for the part. It's almost as if Ms. Rand wanted an actor fashioned out of granite himself in casting Mr. Cooper. Sharp edges to convince her philosophy.
