One of the most striking things...

...about this still very entertaining comedy is the tremendous cultural changes between its day and ours that it reflects. Why, the characters can hardly open their mouths without highlighting one or another of these! Understand that I'm not speaking of the plights and frustrations they face....

With the "tremendous cultural changes", ask yourself why this film is still entertaining. As they say, 'the more things change, the more they stay the same'.

You're absolutely right; the "cultural changes" I spoke of are mainly in what you see, not in the thoughts the characters express in words.

Like what cultural changes?

reply

That's OK! I'm not sure what they were talking about either, but it was clearly very striking. LOL!

I'm as impatient with political correctness as any intelligent person, but even I was cringing at the overbearing, demeaning way the husband interrogated and scolded his wife about the flower room addition. He treated her like a misbehaving child, and she just stood there and took it. I wanted her to tell him to go F himself.
