This can be added

When the father and Bruno got home
To tell the wife that their search was in vain. She shows them the bike was returned.

When the thief took the bike he crashed it.

Then ran off injured

The guy who showed the Antonio how to put up the signs sees this. Repairs the bike brings it back to Antonio. But by then Antonio and Bruno has already left to look for the bike

Antonio is speechless seeing the bike

Antonio hugs and kisses maria. And glad he can resume his job the next day. This time he will install a lock on the bike.

According to the beginning he had a bicycle he could fix, just not in time for the job opening. I bet he goes home to rent or borrow a bicycle for a few days.

I got the impression that he was lying about that because he was embarrassed to say that he had pawned his bike. In other words, the one he got out of hock was his only bike.

Another part to the alternate ending. Is after he starts putting up new signs. The thief tries to steal the bike again. But the lock is on the bike so he fails and runs. The runs into a car. And his head slams into the sidewalk. Now the thief is disabled.
