George Zucco's Most Atypical Role

Mr. Zucco was quite entertaining in this film. It's a shame he didn't get to play more comedic roles. He seemed to take quite a delight in this non-stereotypical role. Karloff, Zuzzo, Mowbray... all wonderful character actors doing great jobs in the undeservedly little known film.

I thought Zucco and Lucy had great chemistry. I would have liked to see them work another case.

Agree. Zucco was marvelous. He played doctors and scientists and did have a few over the top comedic parts. I forget the movie but he had the best line when he stated that a player was crazy and when it turned out it was true he was astonished and stating that he was right after all - a great take!

He and Rains had the best British voices in my opinion.

I just saw it this evening for the first time, and what a treat!!

I loved the way Zucco would be trying to figure out what the word was that he needed while doing a crossword puzzle and then the word came up in someone's conversation right after that.

Brilliant!!

They just don't write stuff like that into movies anymore.

Guess now a days they're too busy making terminator fifteen or scary movie twenty.

Whoever took originality out of Hollywood needs to bring it back, now!

P.S. Lucy was quite a looker, and so smart, too. Not that good looking women can't be smart, sorry if that sounded sexist, but it just goes to show why she's such an Icon.

No need to apologize. It's not that good-looking women can't be smart, but that they are not required to develop their intelligence because things are handed to them. To some extent the same goes for good-looking men.

It was new to me to watch George Zucco be more physical and act gallant towards a lady. He did appear sinister at first but that red herring was quickly put to bed.
