Bishops wife vs preachers wife.

Which do you think is better?

While I normally dislike remakes, I think Penny Marshall did a good job contemporizing the story. And knowing what we know know about Whitney, it's amazing she got all she did get out of her.

I agree with the other poster that if any of the three leads gives the original a run for his money, it's Denzel Washington. I normally think he is overrated, but he provides just the right touch in this film when Cary Grant IMO was smug and irritating in his scenes with David Niven.

I also like the addition of a no-nonsene sarcastic mother for the wife. Jennifer Lewis (Strong Medicine) is ideal in this role. But of course, the original had Gladys Cooper, who may not have been as funny, but made a great adversary.

I think they're both good. Maybe that's because I always thought the original was too hokey, but thankfully not as insufferable as James Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life. (That voice--ugh!)

I love "The Bishop's Wife" and refuse to even watch the preacher's wife. I do own a copy of the preacher's wife on dvd(not by choice). It came with my spouse. I told him he can watch it when I'm not around, but by no means will I ever watch it.

I actually enjoy the Preacher's Wife better because the pacing seems better.
The Bishop's moves too slowly for me at times.

Could anyone possible ask this question and expect an answer? How hopelessly sad our world has become.
