What was Haskell eating out of the glove compartment?

A pill of some sort, sure, but was it some sort of medicine or was it speed? I've driven cross country and I naturally assumed it was some variety of stimulant. If so that's pretty overt drug use for 1945.

What was it? A piece of paper crawling with germs, couldn't buy anything I wanted.

It think it was meant to give us a clue that Haskell was unwell, which, by the way, is a lot better than Downton episode 1 did. They killed off that Turkish guy and he never even did so much as cough!

Heart medicine or a stimulant to stay awake after long hours on the road. Seems like he took it too frequently for it to have been heart meds, though.
