Disney Censorship / Myth Comparison: Black “Slave” Centaurs in Fantasia

The black “slave” centaurs appeared in five shots of the original release of Fantasia (1940). One of these shots was cut and the other four cropped or otherwise edited starting with the 1969 theatrical reissue. The 1990 50th anniversary theatrical release contained a further revision of how these shots were modified, as shown on the 1991 video premiere. Technology allowed for further changes for the 2000 DVD and 2010 Blu-ray releases as well, all of which are shown in this comparison with the corresponding footage from an uncensored Technicolor print (probably from the 1955 or 1963 reissue). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jga1n_pnuQ

Thanks, good footage. The black centaur was named Sunflower.

That's very, very interesting!
I watched both versions 1940 / 2000 and never realized it. *shame on me*
Maybe I'm ignorant but that black centaur is so cute. ♥

However, Fantasia is one of the best animations ever with its fantastic classical music.
Now I know what to rewatch today.
Thank you!
