...the usually reliable Harold Huber almost sinks the whole thing. That’s probably how his role was written, but the director should’ve seen how over-the-top he was and had him dial it down a bit. Sidney Toler is excellent, as usual, and the mystery is good.
shareI know Harold Huber played comic parts in some of his movies but he definitely was too much in this one. He's very excitable as a Romanian posing as a French detective. I thought I would try him as the Belgian detective Poirot, on radio, after watching this and thankfully he was much more restrained in that role.
