How many kids did Belle have?

Yeesh, my mother and I were watching this tonight and we loved it, but we saw all these kids dancing around the Christmas tree, and there had to be over a dozen of them, and they were all calling for their father, the same man who married Belle. Exactly how many kids did she have? And for that matter, how could she have that many? I mean it looked to me like they could out do the Kettles and they had 16 kids.

It looked like a dozen to me ... I was thinking man she really cranked them out!

Perhaps they adopted? But it looked like a small army to me. :)

Perhaps she's the decamom, kind of like the Octomom, but with 2 more kids in one birth.

And she looked close to 50 when she called it off with Scrooge.

That was mystifying, to say the least.

If she'd ground out all those groundlings, she sure as hell wouldn't have been laughing and dancing cheerfully around the table. She'd've been exhausted, with her feet up and buttocks clenched, trying to keep her insides from dropping out.

Christmas with the Duggars!

I just watched this scene and slowed it down and/or paused it to get a complete count; there are 17 kids! Seven around Belle on the chair, four more sitting at a table behind her, five dancing in a circle behind the table and one more off to the side playing a fiddle or something. That was just nuts!

It was meant to show that Belle was happy and had a large family and Scrooge was alone. But they probably overdid it to a degree. People did have large families back then but having 17 kids that survived infancy would have had to be very rare.

I would think a woman of 35 having survived 17 deliveries would be equally so!!

I kind of thought that was a party with friends or relatives over.
