1,000 British Crowns isn't very much.

The convicted murderer says he'll only kill a woman to get the part they need for the Bride for 1,000 crowns. I looked it up online and it said 1,000 British crowns was only the equivalent of $4. Which in 1935 was only $89. It's not even enough to pay for a hotel much less enough to keep yourself fed for very long. Unless I misunderstood something.

Yea, you misunderstood something

Can you explain it?

reply

No, because I also misunderstood it

The movie is et in 1931, but I believe you are overthinking it. Did a scree writer in California really know what 1000 Crowns were worth?

reply

Just a minor nitpick is all. Should have had him say pounds instead.
