I did this about 10 years ago and thinks it's time for a new one
We have all been fascinated by a "Children's Short" that was made in 1935. 77 years later, and we are still discussing it and looking for even more insights.

How old you when you saw it for the first time?
Where did you grow up watching it and on what station, who hosted if you remember. How old are you?
Anything personal you may want to share.

I will kick it off

I am Jay. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY. I am 58 yrs old
I saw it the first time when I was about 5 yrs old, and discovered another use for my penis.
I watched it and was just spellbound. It was on Channel 11 WPIX and in those days was hosted first by Captain Jack McCarthy and then Chief Joe Bolton in the afternoon after school. I never wanted to miss it when it was on.

I taped in the the days of VCR's and now own the DVD.

I grew up in NYC and watched it also on WPIX NY hosted by Officer Joe Bolton and Capt Jack Mc Carthy.I first saw "Beginner's Luck" when I was 4 yrs old and was a huge fan right away.I read the paper looking for it to on for the remaining school yrs.If my freinds were going out to play andit was on I would make an excuse.If it was on in the early morning I would play sick so i could watch it.

My name is Steve I too grew up in NYC and same channel and I wss probably 4 or 5 yrs old.I was instanly fascinated by BL and couldn't wait to see it again.As it was shown twice daily 1 r 2 shorts in the morning and 2 afterschool it would be about every 2 months that BL was on.I can remember memorizing the lines by around the time I was in the 3rd grade.I can remember a sleep over in my friend's backyard in a tent when we were about 11 and the kids began to talk about BL and how great it would be to have some woman have it happen to them.I was really turned on by the idea and made it my hobby to find the perfect gal.I found her one of the kif=ds in my class had no friends and his mom was a really beautiful blonde even prettier that Kitty Kelly and he lived with her and his grandma.The mother was divorced.It was my life to get the woman some how into it I tried everything but never got intoacting out the BL scenes.I stil think about her today!

My name is Jason and and I don't remember the station as I was in Buffalo NY when I was small and didn't stay there long I was probably 4 or 5 as well.Even at a young age I knew there was something that was sexually arousing about "BL" but I couldn't explain it.I was into it big time and also went thru the "Mother Phase" and befriended a kid who I wanted his mother done BL style.

My name is Doug

My story in not the usual one.I was 14 or 15 yrs old and my best friend called me and told me he needed me todo him a big favor.He babysat for his mother's friend but he had the flu and begged my to take it for him.I did everything I could to get out of it saying babysitting is for girls.I got caight and hoped none of my friend's found out about this.I went to the house and a gorgeousblonde answered and told me her name-Gail McClure-I said well this is going to be OK but she was leaving and just getting me set up.She hadtwo toddlers in front of the TV and told me they had their set TV shows they watched.The next show came on and it was the Little rascals and I never heard of it.There was someone as a host and he was talking about the shorts he was going to run.Mrs.McClure came into the room and said this was originally shown in the movies but now it was on TV.So it must have been 1955 or 1956.She told me the kids loved this show.All of a 'Beginner's Luck" came on Mrs McClure was watching and said hey maybe my son Bradley will recite and pointed to her 2 yr old.She then left the room but came back and looked at the TV again and said Hey maybe he will go on stage one day and that could be us.Then she left.I watched the show with only half interest but saw the ending and was hooked.Mrs McClure liked me and had me back to sit for her.Maybe it was 2 times a week.Some time later I was back in the afternoon and "Beginner's luck"was on TV again the short only started when Mrs McClure came home and she sat down and watched it with us.She remembered it and said hey Bradley this is one that one day will be us.She offered to drive me home but I stalled till BL was over.I looked over at Mrs McClure and she wasn't laffing at all.She was stunned the drive home she was dead silient but I had the biggest boner and prayed she didn't se it .It was tuff to walk and impossible to sit.As I was getting out she said something like If that happens to her will I get her a robe and cover her up.

I just turned 70.My story is very similar to Doug's as I was older.I grew up in Brooklyn NY,my ethnic backgroud is Italian and I guess it was WPIX.I was at my freind's house hanging out and his younger siblings were watching TV.there was also a group of women there maybe 4-5.I too never heard of BL or the rascals.The short came on and I didn't paytoo much attention.After it over I wanted to see it again.The group that made the most noise were the group of adult women they were roaring with laughter saying wouldn't this be great to happen to so and so.I was hooked for life.

I grew up in the San Diego area and watched the rascals on KNES.The show ran 1 hour and there was a host.I don't remember his name.I think I was 7 when the show came on in 1955.I'm 64 now.The host ran 2 of the one reel or 1 of the two reelers.The host used to talk after the short and discuss it for a while to kill time.I remember the first time I saw BL he went off saying Spanky's mother really got it bad and she was treated poorly and this was something that souldn't happen but then he went on saying how hystercially funny it was.Ithoght the show was taped and they just ran it over and over but he changed his story everytime it was on which was 3 or 4 times a yr.later he said it was no way for a mother to be treated and what happened to her was wrong and how we should show parents and teachers a lot of respect.

Richard,
You brought up somethiing I found interesting.
You mentioned the MC commented about the short in San Diego.
In all the yrs I saw the short, there was never any commentary by Captain Jack or Chief Joe Bolton.
I would have loved to know theirs thoughts on this type of "kiddie short" being presented to children between say the ages of 4-14.
Does anyone wonder how it got to be presented on a Kiddie Program??

i can remember him speaking in the beginning and telling us about the upcomming short.I remember as every short finished he comented on it.I remember him saying how embarassing for Spanky for him to watch that he said that several times.I remember him saying could you imagine that happening to your friend's mother how strange-but that was in the early days and he never did that again.

Wait a minute I read his post about the commentary and remembered that Officer Joe or Capt Jack would always say something about it.It was very brief maybe a line or a few.I remember Officer Joe saying about Beginner's Luck -Boy I'll bet Spanky and his mom never expected that,another time maybe he said what a show or something like that.Does any of the NY guys remember that.

I'm not sure to be honest with you guys,i've been thinking it over and I can't decide.It could be Jack or Joe would say before the shoet started that Spanky is about to make his stage debut and we don't want to miss that.As Steve said maybe they said a line or two at the end but i'm not 100% sure.

I did hear of this guy who hosted the Rascals in the mid to late 50's in San Diego and he had to do a lot of speaking with these shorts.The format was changed and other stuff was added later on so he didn't talk that much.He spoke of the shorts and told stories about them.If he did it 3 times a yr for 6 yrs then thats 18 different story lines he presented.The people that told me about him thought I would be able to find them and see what he said about "Beginner's Luck" so I could get more deets about it.

Hi my name is Mark,I'm 59 yrs old and I grew up in the weatern suburbs of Boston,Mass.

I was a member of this board for yrs and never posted finally I rejoined this morning and wanted to join the role call.

I first saw Beginner's Luck when I was 5 yrs old and I became a fan and didn't know why.By the time I was 9 I had picked out a kid's mom I wanted in a remake.That was the best time a real live woman and imagining her in Beginner's Luck!

It wasn't made as a "kiddie program" and when it was sold to King world in 1955 thats where it went on TV for children.It wasn't just BL but a whole bunch of the Our gang shorts went on TV at the same time.

I was referring to B/L as this episode was like non other,
The networks must have had the opportunity to pass on this "kiddie episode". as not really suitable for minors

I was raised in Manhattan ,WPIX was my TV station for the Rascals.I was 11 when I firt saw Beginner's Luck.I have to side with Steve and Capt.Jack and Officer Joe did tell us a little about the upcomming episode and there was a small commentary at the end not much thou.

My name is Chris been on the board since 05 or so loved beginners luck and am so glad I found this board.I first saw it when I was 5 or 6 when I was living in New Jersey and have been hooked ever since. I to had a friends Mom I would of loved to see end up on stage in her slip.

I'm fascinated that there are so many stories about boys at puberty or just before it and fixating on an adult woman! So many sound exactly like my own experiance,it sounds like cloned stoies.This is my story I wish others would come in a flesh out theirs or others come forward and tell theirs.

I was in the second year of cub scouts i'm not sure how old I was 9 or 10 probably.We got a new kid in school ,his name was Leonard Cantwell and her was a real nerd/geek type and no one realy befriended him.Then we had our first cub scout den meeting of the new yr.Mrs.Festa was our den mother and she told us we were going to have a new member and she introduced Leonard Cantwell.Mrs.Festa then tells us that Leonard's mother would be the new asst.den mother.In to the room walks Mrs.Regina Cantwell.She was really beautiful ,she looked a lot like the british actress Shirely Eaton,who had been in Goldfinger which was heavily advertised that year.It was the very first time I mentally undressed a woman.Mrs.Festa told Mrs.Cantwell she had to see a special tailor to be fitted for her Cub scout uniform,one of the fathers was overheard saying what a lucky tailor.
A few weeks passed and we had a general assembly in school.Mrs.Cantwell had volunteered to be a teachers helper for the week.As our class was being directed to their seats,side bleechers,three of the schools maintaince workers we working nearby pulling out the bleecher seats.One of the maintaince guys who was mentally impaired shouts out "Holy *beep* Look at the size of the tits on that bitch".Honestly her chest wasn't huge she probably had a 36c rack.She took it very well and just gave the guy a smile.The class burst out laffing.Leonard wasn't laffing at all.Our Teacher came over to Mrs.Cantwell and said "Don't worry honey that man isn't right in his head".

Later in the yr we had a sleep over at my friends house and they had a porch that went all around the house and was screened in.We loved to sleep over there as my friend's grandfather took care of of as this kids parents worked at nite.This guy was an old Italian man and a real dirty old man type,he would give us Playboy magazine and we all read it and loved it.This one nite Leonard Cantwell needed his Asthma medicine and Mrs.Cantwell had to drive over and give it to him.The Grandpa lets her in and you can tell he is really taken by Regina Cantwell.He walked her to the door and they stopped and spoke for 15-20 minutes .She left and he came back to us and said "That's some beautiful woman,she should do mankind some good and it would probably do herself good to pose nude in Playboy".The old guy kept it up saying stuff and saying maybe she would posed like this and pull a nudie out.The kids got a real kick out of it and he didn't seem to care her son was sitting there and not laughing,the opld man kept it up talking dirty about Mrs.Cantwell.

In the spring Mrs Festa,our den mother,got sick and Mrs.Cantwell had to take over and the weekly den meeting were at her house.As we were leaving my best friend Barry says to me isn't it strange Leonard lives with his mother and grandmother and no one else.Most of us has two parents,siblings and in some cases grandparents and aunts and uncles.Barry then says Mrs Cantwell and Leonard are just like Spanky and his mother in the episode where Spanky recites on stage.Then barry says could you imagine what happens to Spanky's mother happening to Mrs.Cantwell? Sometime later Barry called me at home and told me to turn on the TV as Beginner's Luck was on and he said "remember that's Mrs. Cantwell." It was a real turn on and every time I watched it I thought of her.

Sadly the Cantwells moved away not to far after that and we never saw her again.
But there are many times I see one of the kids in Mrs.Festa's basemant that day that we first saw her and they will tell me "Hey that was the first time I ever mentally undressed a girl."

As you said Mark these stories sound the same.I've spoke to many many BL fans over the yrs and I would say probably someplace between 75-80% have a similar story.In most cases the woman is a blonde but certainly not all,there are many brunettes and redheads.In alot of cases the son is some sort of a nose-bleed type and tends to be an only child.The mother is beautiful,widowed or divorced and thats the family or in some cases there is a grandma.Making the mother single makes her less strong and more vunerable,there is no man to protect her.

I've talked this over with many friends and we begin to wonder was the woman as beautiful as the teller remembers or did the yrs add to her beauty?

Another odd point is when did this happen? The answers are many in the 1950's and 60's some in the 70's and a few in the 80's.But nothing since.

I'm glad you came back to our board and decided to post this time.I really enjoyed your story of your experiances with Mrs.Cantwell.I hope others will come forward and tell their stories or open up about their stories.

My name is obo. I am 60 years old. I first saw BL in Chicago when I was approximately 4 years old. And as the other readers have said, it stuck with me for the rest of my life. The whole genre of the comeuppance/stripping of an attractive woman who really deserves it has been a special interest of mine ever since. In fact in later years I've been inspired to write a series of stories along those lines. The first installment was a rewrite Of Beginners Luck using characters that I had created.

Mark I loved your Mrs.Cantwell story-It seems like every little kids journey into manhood starts with something like this.

Thats a real howl she comes into a room and a bunch of kids mentally undress her!

That custodian sounds like a custodian saying about one of the mother's "Look at the size of the tits on this bitch".

The Italian grandpa sounds like many a character i've know in my life.What a nut job!

You have to feel bad for her son with that guy saying that she should pose nude in Playboy and showing centerfolds of how she would look and all the kids laffing! Also with that custodian saying "Look at the size of the tits on this bitch" and all the kids are laffing at your mother's expense.

I'd like to say nice job to jaywer on the role call bit I think it worked out great.

For the record myself ,yourself and Steve are all the same age.

Mark's Mrs.Cantwell story was great I really enjoyed it.I'm glad the guys are now bringing up and using the woman's real name.After all in reality the women are probably dead or in a nursing home today.It's strange the guys are late 50's and up for the most part on this board.

Thanks for calling me stooges and telling me I must flesh out my story.I was at a sleepover in a tent with a bunch of the guys and we started talking about women.Somehow it was a real turn on to talk about adult women over the girls in our class.We talked about posing women in the nude and stripping them and the usual stuff.Someone mentioned the little rascals short where Spanky goes on the stage.We were probably 11 and we then started picking teachers from our school for the Spanky's mother's role.Then we started picking our friend's mothers the laughter level was pure cackle as you can imagine.Some of the guys wanted to take it back to speaking of these women in the nude rather than stripping them to a slip on stage.
I knew from that nite my life's mission was on.A few days passed and I was with my friend Tommy who said you know one of the kid's in our class had a mother that was perfect.He said Kyle Roland's mother was perfect for the Beginner's Luck part.I knew I had to see her and we befriended Kyle.There were anywhere between 2 to 4 of us in on this scheme.
One day we were playing football and a car pulls up and a pretty blonde lady gets out and calls for Kyle.We stopped and Tommy punches me saying there's our girl.Now she was no Shirley Eaton but she was very pretty similar to Kitty but prettier.She came over and said "I'm Mrs.Roland,Kyle's mother".After she left I spoke to my friend's Tommy,Adam,and Eugene and we knew our job get Mrs. Roland on a stage have her dress get caught and ripped off her and have Kyle pull a stage prop in front of her.
It was probably the next week we went over the Kyle's after school.Yes Kyle was an only child ,he lived with his mother who was blonde and his grandma.
The Mother and Grandmother really fell all over us as we were probably the first friends this kid had.Theyconstantly were feeding us and prasing us.
My friend Eugene told me he was going to play a trick on her and told us to watch.We went over and Kyle was at band practice but Mrs.Roland welcomed us in.She sits us down and starts to talk to us about Kyle and how were his friend's and she was glad.She starts talking if there was a way we could help him and Eugene looks at her and says"Well you know Joan,we think Kyle should learn to recite the classics and it would improve his self esteem." Mrs.Roland went for it hook,line and sinker.She never even noticed that Eugene called her by her first name.Her name was Joan and everyone called her that except her mother who called her Joanie.
I couldn't believe it Momma was in the bag! She even asked us what she should have him recite.Can u guess which 2 we picked? She had him practice and she was real excited about.
Although we tried for something like a little over 2 yrs we never found the correct venue and Mrs. Joan Roland's hemlime was saved from a curtain hook!!

I guess it's my time to tell my story.I first saw Jennifer Langdon when I was in the 7th grade.Her son Charlie was in my class.She wasn't a blonde,she had medium brown hair.She was kinda short at 5'1" and she was very very young looking as most people mistook her to be a student and not a woman of 30-32 range.My best friend,Derek,and myself really got into her big time.We talked of her nude and what she would look like and of course having her get the BL treatment.Then we went over and hung out with Charlie.Jennifer turned out to be real nice.One day Derek sent Charlie to the stores to get stuff and we were in their apartment alone,Derek says quick lets go into her bedroom and look for stuff.He began to rifle all her draws saying here's wher she keep nude photos of herself.There was no photos but Derek did lift 2 of her bras and two of her panties.That was the high point and Jennifer Langdon faded away in the next few yrs.

Let me tell my later day stories regarding BL.I used to work in corporate America but got downsized and became a grade school teacher.About 10 yrs ago I started photographing girls that I was involved with in BL poses and we acted it out all the time.I would use strong wooden hanger witha heavy metal hook to snag the girl's dress.Then photoshop came out and I was able to do a lot more stuff.A few yrs ago two of my friends came up with a crazy idea and it was to make the stage prop.A graphic artist took the picture from the original and was able to blow it up and made sure it didn't loose any of its defination.The picture is mounted on 1/2 inch thick fiborboard and then mounted onto plywood.There are 2 twoby fours on the side and a runner on the bottom.It cost me about $60 bucks.non of the 7 girls I was involved with were blondes,one was divorced and one had a child.Honestly the girls loved it,I never had any complaints and it usually wound up in great sex!
The woman i'm now with is a blonde girl born in the Ukraine.Her son was in my class and we started up as soon as school ended.She never heard of the rascals but loves the BL treatmant.

You've heard my story at least three times but I guess for the new people I'll tell it again.I was always into BL since I first saw it and couldn't explain why.I was about 14 and a freshmen in high school and a new family moved into my neiborhood and right down the block from me.I hadn't met them yet.A few days later I was comming home from school and riding a bus and two old ladies were sitting behind me talking about this incredibly beautiful woman that just moved into our neiborhood saying she was classy and intelligent as well.The next day my friend Joe came to me and told he he had found the perfect Spanky's mother,and said she lived in our neiborhood and took the bus as that was where he saw her.A few days later I was comming home and was getting off the middle of the bus and there was a woman getting off behind me and I held the door for her.I was struck by lightning comming uo from the ground.WOW!!!! What an incredible woman.She had red curly hair and was really striking.She thanked me for holding the door for her and with a big smile.I followed her home and as she got to her house she gave me a big smile again.I lived in the opposite direction and had to walk around the corner.
I told my friend and he thought it had to be her but we din't know who she was.A few days later we were walking around and one of my freind's mother's called us in.She wanted to introduce us to a new lady."Boy's this is Mary Lenihan".She sais she knew us from the bus and wanted us to meet her children.She took us home with her and her oldest son was like 10,a daughter 9,son 7 and daughter6.The oldest boy had a speech impediment and there was also something wrong with him ,I never found out what it was.
We went to their house maybe twice a week for a couple of months and then it became less frequent.On day my friend Joe says lets go the Lenihan's,I tried everything to stop him but he had his way.We went in and her son was on the couch in the living room watching TV.We sat and talked to him for a while.The other 3 kids were playing inside the house ,the father wasn't home and Mary wasn't home either.Later we heard a noise at the side door it was Mrs.Lenihan comming home and she called into the living room and the son answered.She steps into the foyer and puts her hand bag down and starts to unzip the back of her dress.She is talking to the son all along.She drops the dress to the floor and bends down to pick it up.She is wearing a white bra and a white half slip and man does she look great.She picks up her dress and opens the door to the basement and throws it down stairs.She then starts to walk into the living room and still doesn't see us and bends over to kiss her son and then she reaches back and unhooks her bra.She then sees us and jumps back and tries to cover herself with her arms croosed her chest and hands on shoulders.She then crouches down and puts her arm down in front of her genitals.Then she jumps behind a chair and calls for her kids to get her a bathrobe.She puts her head up on the back of the chair and it was lind of like the prop.It took about three minutes for one daughter to bring her robe.The oldest son did nothing but laugh at her and before it never told her we were there.She was mortified but always said she was so sorry for the incident.We weren't at all,both of us had massive erections and went home and wacked off for 10 hours.

My name is Greg.
I'm 52 ,I grew up in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area and watched the rascals on WCCO- the tree house show ,with Axel and Carmen.I first saw "Beginner's Luck" I was probably 5.

I never had any "mother episodes" when I was growing up but I did have a "near Beginner's Luck" experiance when I was in grammer school.

We were in the 7th grade and we were going to get a new teacher for our school but not new to the system as she taught in another school for maybe 8 yrs.Her name was Ms.Dwyer and she had just got married over the summer but she kept her maiden name.She came into class the first day and she was a very pretty woman with brown hair.The girls took to her and looked up to her and the boys had a big crush on her.Mrs Dwyer was elegant and very prim and proper,everything with her was just so.

She seemed very nice and all the kids(40 mixed boys and girls) were pleased.She had a run in with a boy in the class named Walter and he became her personal whipping boy.She was still nice to the rest but poor Walter payed the piper.I can remember being infatuated with her and saying her name Margaret Mary Dwyer,but the class started to turn as she picked on Walter and the kids didn't like it and her treatment became worse and worse.We broke for spring break and went back to school on a thursday and on Friday late in the day Mrs.Dwyer was called down to the principals office,I remember it as she was so stunned she didn't give us homework.
The following monday we went to school and Mrs.Dwyer was there bright and early and was in before anyone else.Mrs.Dwyer sat at her desk for the first two hours of class,this was unusual as she would be all over the room.Then the principal,Mr.Horowitz, came to our classroom.This was something that never happeded.He says "Mrs.Dwyer" and she said "Yes Sir" and she got up and walked over to him.As she got up everyone could see she was wearing a really short skirt.She never did anything like that before.She walks over to Mr.Horowitz and he looks down at her legs and says something to her and leaves.The next day she is again wearing a short skirt, a black leather mini with the metal ring belt.No one has any idea of what's going on and again the principal came by.Everyday was the same Mrs.Dwyer in a mini skirt and the principal comming in.
Rumors started to fly.One of the things people noticed was no more whipping boy Walter.No one will really ever know outside of those in the know but the speculation was Walter's father was a fairly high up in the school board and he must have called in all his favors to pull this one.Apparently when she went to the principal's office the school board struck.Mrs Dwyer and her husand were both teachers in the system they could make life hard for them putting them in bad schools or ones that were far from their homes.She was told she would don very short miniskirts and that would be her punishment.
Whenever I go back home and run into one of my classmates it's the first thing they bring up.Of course they next thing is huge laffs.
They would never get away with this today but her assault on Walter couldn't happen either.Most people say Mrs.Dwyer had to be in miniskirts for about a month.Some people saw her running to her car during these days and bursting out cyring maybe 3 or 4 different times.Mrs.Dwyer was humiliated by being made to dress like a 15 yr old when she was 30.This was the worst possible humiliation for a person like Mrs.Dwyer who had a lot of class and was made to look very undignified.It was the greatest story of a whipping boy striking back and really getting even with the teacher.Margaret Mary Dwyer had no idea Walter's dad was on the school board but i'll bet it was something she remembered the rest of her days.Walter's dad stopped his son from being the laffing stock and turned the tables on her.Whenever I think back on it I can remember a girl saying "that skirt is so short" almost every day and me and every boy studing the shape of her legs.

I'm Roger,I'm 56 yrs old.I grew up in Westchester,County the northern suburbs of NYC.I watched them on WPIX-NY.There were 2 Little Rascals programs a day-the first, a morning 1/2 hour show that first was on at 6 AM then it was pushed back and was on at 8 AM.There was no host just 1 of the rascals 2 reelers or 2 of their one reeler.
The second show was on at 4:30PM and was hosted by Officer Joe Bolton.Officer Joe did say a line or so about what short we were going to see and he generally had a couple of things to say at the end but not much.Other times they had a special guest and then they usually did a one reeler instead of two.The guest was somebody who had been part of Our Gang.Later Jack McCarthy took over the rascals for a bit but then it went back to Officer Joe.

I first saw "Beginner's Luck" when I was either 5 or 6.I think the first time I saw it I was in shock and maybe stunned by what I had just seen.I knew I wanted to watch it again and in a hurry but had to wait a few months.In our local paper we had a TV section that said what was on for the week in the Sunday version.Every week I would look to see if "Beginner's Luck" would be on this week from maybe that time I was in the 3rd grade.Around that time I can remember talking with the kids in class and they spoke about the Popeye show which was on the day before after we talked about it then the kids walked away leaving one kid who looked at me and said did I see the rascals the day before(it was "Beginner's Luck) and said to me "Could you imagine that happening to somebody",he never explained did he mean Spanky or his mom?

One time in the 5th grade we had a school assembly and one of the kids in our class was in it.I don't remember what he did but he performed.Anyway we went into the school gym and 4 of us who were friends sat together.The 8th grade sat in a row behind us.Everything was great all of a sudden the kid who was in the show mother appears at our row and starts to talk to us.To be honest we were not great freinds of his but we had played with him before a few times.She spent a few minutes talking to us and with a smile and maybe her saying "wish him luck" she was off but got caught by other parents and wound up talking to them instead of being with her son.Mrs. Michaels was a nice looking woman and she got noticed by the 8th grade boys.They started up with "FRIENDS,ROMANS AND COUNTRYMEN LEND ME YOUR EARS"and then the pinging of the peashooters of the armour.The 8th graders thought it would be great for our classmate to get the treatment onstage and his mother to try and rescue him only to fall prey herself.This went on the entire assembly.Teachers told them to stop but they only lowered their voices.The Michaels kid went on late and they were especially bad when he was on stage.The did the ripping noise of the dress going up and tearing.We looked at one another and made faces that we were disgusted with them but we really were not at all.

If you ask any of the other 3 boys who were with me today about that episode they will now all admit it was an incredible turn on for us the rest of our lives listening to those kids talk about Mrs.Karen Michaels getting it on stage.Most times I watch "Beginner's Luck" I think of Karen Michaels in that role.Mrs.Michaels has never aged at all and is still as fresh and beautiful as she was on that day back in 1967.The funny part on that day she was backstage and needed to get something from her car and ran into us who just happened to have the 8th grade boys behind us,if she didn't go to her car or took another way back to the stage none of this would have ever happened.

As far a "Beginner's Luck" goes I have no idea why it has the hold on me it does but it does .I have never seen anything that even comes close.

I thought I would share my story with the board. It was my freshman year of high school and I car pooled with my neighbor's daughters to school every morning.I would walk down the street to thier house and meet them for a ride.Thier Mom was a full figured woman but had all the curves in all the right places.I had seen her in a one piece bathing suit many times and she was quite stunning in it. I had always been a big fan of beginner's luck as we all our.I would always fanatise about her getting her dress ripped off as her daughters all took tap dancing lessons and did many local and out of state shows.I did get to go on some of the shows with the family as her daughter and I were very good friends.The mother would always wear a tight dress and look oh so good in it but she never once had to perform a resuce attempt.Well anyway's this one particular morning I had walked down to thier house for a ride to school. I was a little early getting in and it was standard pratice for me to just walk in and wait for the girls to be ready.I walked into the living room and was about to sit down when the Mom came out of her bedroom wearing a very tight white slip.Oh my she said as she stood there in shock at me starring at her and feeling my little fellow start to swell.Just then her daughter came down stairs and said mom your in your slip. She quickly grabbed a sweatshirt from off the couch and covered her upper torso with it still leaving her lower body in the slip showing.She then side stepped her daughter and made her way back to her bedroom smiling at me as she walked away.Her in that slip has been burned in my mind still. I wouuld of love to have seen her in that slip on stage.

My name is Joe.I grew up in Queens,New York and watched the rascals on WPIX channel 11.I'm also in my 50's and I probably saw it first when I was 5.

I can identify with the guys who tell their stories about obsessing about some pretty mother and hoping the "Beginner's Luck " saga would actually happen to her in real life.It was never with girls our own age but with the mothers we seemed to be the most interested in.Actually seeing one go thru what Spanky's mother did was a main goal of myself and my friends.The guy who spoke of the cub scouts mentally undressing the boys mother is something we did all the time from the age of about 10 or so.I really enjoyed reading those stories as so many were so close to the pin with my own childhood.

I realized I never spoke about "Beginner's Luck" at all yesterday.As I already stated I first saw the short when I was about 5 or so and became strangely fascinated by it.In those days once something was on the rascals show it was about 2 or three months till it was shown again.Not like today where we have the DVD and play it over and over and stop it at various points and play it in slo-mo at certain scenes.I can't really explain my fascination with it I may have laffed the first time I saw it but it was more than that.From the point where the grandmother says"here's where we stop the show" and the curtain begins to rise and the hook heads for the mother's dress hem ,WOW !!!! I'm into it.Somehow I found it very stimulating and arousing all at the same time.I would memorize the actor's lines and the scenes after a few years.As i got older I found out most of the other little boys were into it was well but not all.I can remember looking in the papers to see when "Beginner's Luck" would be shown. You could tell with the line the paper had either -Spanky makes his stage debut or- Spanky's mother puts him in an ameteur show or- Spanky goes on the stage and you knew which it was.

My friend's call me Rollo,i'm 59 and I grew up in upstate New York the closest town was Plattsburg.The fisrt time I saw "Beginner's Luck" I was 10 yrs.old and I watched it at my best friend Danny's house as we had no T.V.We went there after school to unwind and watch TV.We watched many shows cartoons,the rascals,Three stooges and Superman.I can remember Danny telling me some of the rascals shows were good and some wern't.

The day I saw "Beginner's Luck" for the first time,well it was like I was struck by lightning.I knew that they used a comedic tool of ripping off a pretty girl's dress and the audience laughed at her as she tried to cover up but this wasn't that at all.I had feelings that I never had before,I was stunned,shocked,stimulated all at the same time.I had a feeling that I shouldn't have been allowed to watch it.There was something about it the howling audience,no one comming to her assistence,the situation going from bad to worse,her trying to save her own son from the cruel audience laughter and have that happen to her!

I thought to myself "How could they do that to a mother"? After it was over Danny looked over and was laughing and said that one was funny.I just said "yeah it was" and let it go at that.
In later years I realized it was the early stages of puberty that gave me those strange feelings and I always look back with fondness to the Rascals in general and "Beginner's Luck" in particular.

My name is Jim and I grew up in Concord ,New Hampshire.
I really don't remember how old I was when I first saw it,I may have been 3 or 4. I'm now in my late 50's .I watched a show hosted by a young pretty young lady named Miss Jenny.Miss Jenny hosted the Little Rascals segment of the afternoon programs called the "Kiddie Kalvacade". Her show went on at 4 pm Monday thru Friday.I can remember everytime this short was on Miss Jenny would say "Spanky is going to make his stage debut" everytime but she changed what she said after the short was over.Sometimes she would say "I'll bet his mother never thought it would turn out that way" or "Well Spanky never thought he'd win as a comedy act" there were several others.

As others have said when we got into the 5th grade this short took on a new meaning,I and my classmates frequently talked about a pretty mother or a nice looking teacher going through a event like this short's ending.It was never girls or own age but adult women.I soon became a lifetime fan of this short looking for any materials I could read about the Rascals,Our Gang comidies or the Roach studio.I actually had a notebook that I put tidbits I collected about any of this short.Beginner's Luck has been a secret lifetime passion of mine since childhood.I will gladly share any of my theories or ideas about this short with anyone on this board.

Like others here, I first saw this short on WPIX in NY. It had to have been around 1970-71 (probably in the morning, but I believe The Little Rascals were also shown in the afternoons at that time), so I would have been somewhere in the vicinity of 4-5 years old. Needless to say, it had a major impact on me, though I always felt sorry for Spanky's mother (as I have posted elsewhere).

I guess all boys when they hit puberty think of something similar happening to an attractive adult woman or a girl their own age, but I honestly never thought about doing it to someone in real life. God forbid anybody ever did something like that to someone in my family!

I do remember when I had gone to an outdoor concert years ago a very pretty mother who had her dress lifted up from the back by the daughter she was carrying. It seems she forgot her panties that day and displayed to everyone in full view (though I believe I was the only one to have caught it) a very shapely and tan backside. Though she was a little embarrassed, she did give me a nice smile (which I returned).

My name is Harvey , I'm 61 and I grew up in NYC on the island of Manhattan.
I can't tell you when I first saw this episode but i'll bet I was 5 or 6. On channel 11 it was on after school with Officer Joe Bolton or Capt. Jack McCarthy. To be honest the Little Rascals weren't even my favorite ,that is until I saw this episode. I then thought there would be more just like it but of course there were no others.

I remember seeing it when I knew what was going to happen and I knew it was far more than just something that was funny. I remember it was hard to breath and I didn't want to miss anything. I loved the fact that the mother had to go thru this over and over and nothing was going to change. What a charge went through me with the ending it was like lightning went down my spine. I remember looking in the papers to see when it would be on it was listed as " Little Rascals -Spanky makes his stage debut.I don't think I knew the name of this episode until the 1980's seeing a Rascals set and reading the names and a short storyline."Spanky tries to recite Shakespere ,but the gang's pelting him with peashooters, Spanky's mom tries to spare him but she gets dis-dressed along the way".

I had to do a book report in the 4th grade and my school library had two books on the Our Gang/Little Rascals. I thought there would be a lot about this episode but nothing at all in both books. I never found another guy who felt the same way about this episode as I did ,to be honest I felt something was wrong with me. Wow when she goes out into the audience to talk to the gang and when she runs with the pole to pull her son off is also a great one,but to me it's when Spanky rushes the stageprop infront of her and you see her in that slip WOW!!!!!

Thank you fellows for the warm hello. I read all your stories and so many sound like my own . The guy who had the mother walk into a room while she was wearing a slip and the mom who started to undress when she came home not realizing that others were in the house is so real I'm sure this has happened to many a young man. The silly mothers who thought if they had their son recite Shakespeare would make their son more popular I could see happening. The mean teacher who made a whipping boy out of one of her students and winds up humiliated herself as she is made to wear a short dress sounds impossible by todays standards but I actually heard a similar story from back in the day. The best are the stories involving Mrs. Cantwell, could you imagine her walking into a room full of cub scouts and they all mentally undress her that's great.

It seems the episode takes a mother and embarrasses her and degrades her all for the sake of comedy. It borders on the sado-masocistic and maybe we have urges to take adult females and humiliate them. I just read a story that Aristotle Onasis had photographers shoot pictures of his then wife Jackie O. while she sunbathed in the nude. This was done knowing these photos would be major news . He did it to humiliate her and bring her in line. As I read the story I thought of this episode.

That's very interesting Harvey, your analogy between Jackie O. and B/L as that is something that many people have brought up to me in the past. To the best of my knowledge it hasn't been on this board before.

After the JFK asaasination Jacqueline Kennedy had become an American saint something like Mother Theresa. But unknown to the public she launched a campaign to have as many schools , streets ,airports named for her slain husband. This included the new naval aircraft carrier being built and also Cape Canavral . Most people went along with her and many names were changed ,others said sorry no but she used every power she had to make it happen. She pulled every trick in the book to get what she wanted including rubbing LBJ's leg and playing a vamp ( listen to the LBJ private tapes ) to force the name of Cape Kennedy upon the nation. She made a huge enemies. What I heard about the nude pics was that Onasis wanted to humiliate her and put her in her place. He thought this would smash her saintly image. Her son was 14 or 15 and had friends who read the magazines that her photos were published in. I'm sure many of her enemies were laughing hysterically at her predicament just like B/L.

Hi my name is Jerry

I grew up in NYC and Westchester county. I'm 62 yrs old and will turn 63 this year.

I decided to tell my story and my lifelong fascination with this silly little comedy short before it was to late or I became senile ( which I hope doesn't happen soon).

Like so many others here I first saw this short at an early age and became hooked right away and I couldn't explain my fascination. I had a desire to get adult woman to have this happen to them but it never even came close just a fantasy. As I got older I began to speak to other guys about it they all had some degree of fascination with it but nothing like mine. In college I told a buddy I liked this short much better than porn - I can tell you that was a mistake as he thought I was a nut. I never actually knew the name of it for many years and didn't know the name of the actress who played Spanky's mother till the 1990's when I bought a VHS tape. Over my dating days I tried to have girls wear the slip with the beret most went along with it but wouldn't go too far and never go too far along with acting out the scene for me. Most of my life was met with frustration regarding anything to actually get a very fulfilling sexual experience out of recreating this ending.

My victories were small ( but small wins are better than no wins) About 20 yrs ago we were hiring for a clerical position at my company. I saw this one young woman and even though she wasn't that qualified I alone made a big push to get her hired. She came form the Pacific northwest and had worked in medical and dental offices, she was around 30. The reason I got her hired was she looked so much like the actress the portrayed Spanky's mother. Her name was Kimberly and was of Norwegian and English decent. After she was hired and before she started working she was in my office talking and I told her in our line of business all women wore either suits, dresses or skirts and never never ever wore pants or pantsuits. Kimberley was unaware of this and was very thankful. She started her career with out company and was very well liked and highly thought of, she frequently thanked me for telling her about never wearing pants. One day as she was thanking me again she asked me was there anything else she could do to help her chances of promotion and I told her to start to wear slips and showed her exactly what type and start to wear the beret and wear it just like Spanky's mom. Nothing ever happened with Kimberly after that but I was so turned on knowing she was wearing those slips and beret.

Another victory came when another clerical worker asked myself and another collegue how to help her give class and culture to her young sons.This girl was named Pat who was a single mom raising to young boys by herself. She was from Brooklyn and still lived there. She was half Italian and half Irish and was a real beauty. Her one drawback was a very heavy Brooklyn accent. Pat was popular
with the other girls bit wasn't liked by her supervisor.The supervisor was in on the idea to make a fool out of Pat as it was felt she had a stick up her butt. Myself and a collegue and the supervisor came up with the plan have her sons reciting Longfellow and Shakespere each day after school. It went so far as sending her to send a friend of ours who worked in a theater and had her sons go on stage and recite and him telling her theyhad real talent. Pat went along with it but we never were able to get her on a real stage looking up to see where her dress wentbut it was as good as I could do.

My name is Rob, I have been a viewer of this board for many years but I decided to start posting the other day. I saw "Beginner's Luck" for the first time probably at 5 years old. My childhood was spent in Rockland county in New York. I'm 60 years old.

This short had a huge impact on me as almost everyone else on this board it seems. Looking back I believe it brought about an early sexual awareness in me. I think around the age of 7 I popped a boner thinking about Spanky's Mother.

I would go to bed and night and think about the short like changing it trying to make it better or placing women I knew in the role of Spanky's mother. It was generally blondes or sometimes a redhead that I wanted to see get this type of treatment. I never understood my fixation but I was hooked at an early age. I had a fascination with pretty teachers or nice looking mothers of my class mates.

I'd like to give further information on myself recently I believe I've found the best candidate to play Spanky's mother in a remake, that is of the current actresses. With her long legs which are very shapely and great looking combined with her extremely large blue eyes and her great facial expressions blending together with her age (30) which is perfect. I believe Beth Behrs of 2 broke girls is so perfect.

As I got older 12, 13 I would deliberately try to find it because I wanted to watch it obviously because I knew what it did to me. Part One
I first saw Beginners Luck when I was 4. I was hooked, pun intended. I remember watching it on TV, my mother calling me for dinner and I say just a minute because Kitty Kelly just took off her coat and was going to pull Spanky off the stage. Watching her dress be pulled off instead was great. It still is all these years later. After seeing it on TV I would recreate the scene w/ a friend down the street. The setting was an office and when the pencil sharpener was used the clothes came off. We got caught by my friend’s Mom but nothing was ever said about it.

I’d love to see a recreation but I’d add a little more to the production.

The recreation should be w/ three cameras positioned from the audience, from Grandma and the MC, and from the behind. The cameras will move a bit to cover every angle of the big reveal.

The recreation can follow the original script with some additional action.

W/ modern production techniques I think it would be easy for Kitty Kelly to be revealed in all combinations of lingerie: full, half and demi slips; bras including long line and strapless; waistcinchers: open bottom, panty and longleg; girdles open bottom, panty and longleg, garterbelts, basques, corsets, pantyhose, thigh high stockings even nude. On a DVD the viewer can pick and choose.

Grandma always announces “Here’s where we stop the show” The MC responds “Go ahead” I would add to the chaos.

After the curtain sandbags hit the MC he looks up at the disrobed Kitty. He is groggy and thinks he is reaching for the curtain to help him get up for an even better look at Kitty. Instead, he grabs onto the coat of one the mothers in the wings of the stage. Sure enough her coat and dress are also ripped off and she is left standing there in any of the lingerie combinations above. She screams as she quickly looks around while trying to cover up and sees all the other contestants, stage mothers and stagehands looking at her and enjoying her plight. Grandma suggests she join Kitty on stage. Of course, she can’t.

She asks a stagehand where the exit is. He replies, "I dunno". She's left frantically scampering all over the backstage desperately looking for an exit dressed only in her beautiful lingerie much to the enjoyment and satisfaction of the snickering contestants, their tittering stage mothers and chuckling stagehands. All three groups are lucky enough to be positioned in the stage wings and able watch the completely mortified stage mom scurry about as one of the contestants gleefully blurts "Look, she's in her undies!!" before she finally finds an exit and leaves.

Part Two
Meanwhile, we know Kitty is on stage and Spanky, trying to help, only adds to her humiliation w/ the dog prop.

A stagehand who isn’t paying much attention to anything sees Kitty’s coat she earlier tossed to the side. Thinking it’s a from the costume department he picks it up and being a fur locks it in the dressing room.

With her dress in the rafters and coat now locked away Kitty has to leave the theater with only what she has on if anything.

Of course, the howling of the audience never ends. Spanky is stunned and frozen in place

Grandma doesn’t come to the aid of her daughter. She helps the MC back to his dressing room.

Kitty finally runs off stage. The other stage mothers have left w/ their kids. Kitty leaves through a back door but needs to get home; she doesn’t drive. She runs up the alley to the front of the theater and at a cab stand asks the attendant to hail a cab.

The attendant say he will but she must wait her turn there are others ahead of her. She is left standing on the street in all stages of undress. Meanwhile the audience leaving the theater is getting a good look at her, a good laugh at her expense, and a great memory.

And to preserve it all the photographers for local newspapers who were covering the talent show are snapping photos with the flash bulbs and flash powder illuminating Kitty as she tries desperately to cover up in front of the leering theatergoers and passer-bys.

Welcome to the group!! Great comments also! Funny everyone in the group says they shouldn't change the original BL but everyone has certain ideas to improve it tho. I like your ideas of additional cameras and of course have to be high def. Would like to see more of Kittys face straight on to see her expressions while getting the works. After Spankys helmet gets done spinning we need more footage of Kitty--maybe doing a 360 view plus her struggle getting off stage while the audience torments her with laughter and maybe the gang shooting peas at her ass as she makes her way off stage on all fours!

Thank you. Yes, I think a three-camera technique would improve the viewer experience. The chance to see Kitty and her struggle to keep her dress on, the view from the audience and those in the wings as the dress is being lifted and her face as she looks at those looking at her. I'm a big lingerie fan so seeing her in various garments would be great. I want to see what the audience sees, Kitty disrobed in her undergarments, before Spanky comes out w/ the prop.

Another improvement to the viewer's experience; Spanky should spend more time looking for and locating the prop, so we get more of Kitty from the audiences' and backstage view. As you say, seeing her expressions as the dress is being lifted off, more of her struggles from more angles and then her expressions with the dress completely off and thoroughly humiliated would add w/o changing the experience for those who prefer classic BL.

I had another thought on what may be called the utter chaos version of BL. As the audience is filing out one member lifts up his wife, girlfriend, or a stranger's dress as far as possible asking "What are you wearing under your dress?" to the enjoyment of those filing out who get a glimpse again of a pretty lady and the sexy lingerie she wears and for all we know she may even hope that complete strangers get a glimpse of what she's wearing under her dress.

Like your idea about the audience getting involved!!. Maybe a good looking girl lifts the dress of another good looking girl---then a catfight begins, of course clothes ripping and tearing off revealing both ladies sexy lingerie to be torn off during the fight.
There have been ideas about getting one of the women watching off stage help Kitty and varies scenario's where one or both get their clothes get removed by the other. All resulting in extreme embarrassment of the participant but enjoyment for whoever is watching.
Wish they had a straight on view of Kittys face as she turns toward the audience as the last of the buttons from her tight dress pop open and her arms are pulled up over her head as her dress slides off her arms.

Yes, you're right one of the other mothers on stage would come to the aid of Kitty. maybe something like this:

Kitty is behind the prop and gaping at her dress in the rafters. Spanky remains stunned and frozen. The audience is filing out because the view of Kitty they want is obscured by the prop. Off stage Daisy Dimple’s mother remember Spanky’s promise to Daisy to give her the $10 he expects to win and the MC saying to Daisy “Listen honey, he won that prize five minutes ago.” Because of the generous gesture Daisy’s Mom figures she should help Kitty out of her predicament. She intends to give Kitty her coat.

Daisy’s Mom walks on stage w/ Daisy in tow. Daisy still a little freaked out from her appearance on stage walks close to her Mother hugging her Mom’s coat because of her unsettling experience.

Daisy’s Mom walks up to Kitty and looking down at her says she wants to help her out so she can leave the stage w/o any further embarrassment. Daisy’s Mom says she is doing so because of Spanky’s kind gesture. Daisy chimes in saying “the dress is in the bag”

Because of all the noise and laughter from the audience Kitty hears what Daisy says and thinks Daisy is making a smart-aleck remark about her dress being ripped off her in front of a full theater with it now up in the theater's rafters while she's left on stage fully displayed in her finest lingerie for all to see.

Angry, Kitty reaches toward to Daisy with her hand gesturing that Daisy needs to mind her manners. Daisy pushes Kitty’s hand away and leans back while she is still hugging her Mom. Kitty’s finely manicured nails rub past Daisy’s mom’s coat and snags her dress. With Kitty’s nails going one way and Daisy pulling away in the opposite direction on her Mom’s coat we hear another loud ripping sound as Daisy’s Mom’s coat and dress are torn off in different directions.

As Daisy's Mom has her dress ripped off Kitty falls forward a bit and knocks over the props so now for the audience still in the theater the view is twice as nice.

Kitty in a full-length slip with lacy bodice and hem. The theater lights penetrate the slip, so the audience also gets the pleasure of seeing her wearing a matching bra, panty, and garter-belt set with the garter-belt securely supporting her sexy seamed stockings.

Daisy’s Mom is now frozen in place as the laughter and catcalls reach a new crescendo. As the kind and sensible woman she is, she can now be seen by all standing there on stage only wearing her nice floral print matching bra and panty set w/ lace insets and a fetching pair of control-top pantyhose.

The audience which has been filing out stops and turns around when it hears the loud ripping of the fabrics and the shrieks from Daisy's Mom as she too is now on stage clad only in her lingerie. Among the audience you see broad smiles, renewed laughter and some taking a seat again for the encore.

One guy who was walking out with w/ a friend grabs his friend's shoulder and turning him around to face the stage says “hey buddy let’s stick around for the second act”

Daisy scurries off stage again just as the MC, still a bit shaken from the hit he took w/ the sandbags, walks out of his dressing room. He sees Daisy about the leave the theater and calls out to her, “Wait, I understand this is for you” and gives her the $10 bill for first prize. He continues “I know the noblest Roman of them all would want you to have this.”

Daisy’s surprised and grateful turns to wave thanks to Spanky who is still frozen on the stage. We also get a nice lingering shot of Kitty and Daisy’s Mom alone on stage wearing only their lingerie for all to see.

Daisy has grown due to the events of the evening and calls out to her mother.

“Mom don’t worry about me. I can get home by myself.”

Daisy skips out of the theater with her first prize money in hand hearing the sounds of raucous laughter from the audience and seeing her Mom and Kitty still on stage desperately using their hands trying to cover up to no avail. Daisy knows they will have more difficulty getting home than she will when they have to leave the theater dressed only in their underwear.

Nah. I'm not the guy with the perma-boner over this episode pretending to be different people with similar fantasies ITT. But ... your idea isn't bad. There is a horny element to this episode, though hardly outside the barriers of tame, and Spanky's mom is fetching.

Only thing I really like in it is when Spanky has to raise his shield to block the fusillade of spit-wads.
