Robert Coogan = ANNOYING

I finally got to see this movie yesterday for the first time. I absolutely love Jackie Cooper, but Robert Coogan seriously annoyed me.
I think Jackie is probably the best young actor of all time. The scene between him and his father near the end was just heart breaking. That child was some actor.

Aw, come on, what do you expect from a six year old? Sooky was so cute and Coogan was a very good little actor. He took all those pies and other things to the face like a pro. It's hard to believe he was uncle Fester's little brother. I hope he didn't look like Fester when he grew up.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

reply

he wasn't Uncle Fester's little brother. Uncle fester was Jackie Coogan. Skippy was Jackie Cooper.

reply

Sooky was Uncle Fester's little brother, Skippy was not. I wonder if Jackie and Robert had other brothers and sisters.

reply

Sorry. My bad. Robert looked similar to his big brother in “the kid”.

reply

He did, and he had a much harder job, learning lines, because when his brother was that age movies had no sound!

In some of his scenes, Robert seemed to be concentrating on saying lines correctly, but he was so cute and came across as just a little kid with a limited vocabulary concentrating on how best to say what he thought and felt. I really liked him and felt his acting in the sad sequence was absolutely heartbreaking. I hope the director didn't do anything bad to him to achieve that, as he did to Jackie Cooper.
