It's alive, It's alive...

Probably the most classic line in horror movie history. I can't picture no one else other then Colin Clive saying it.

reply

To be honest, I prefer the line that followed it. "Now I know what it feels like to be God."

I did sixty in five minutes once...

Coupled together, the very best utterance by a mad scientist who is delving into matters best left unknown.

reply

Yes, and it took years before I actually heard that in the film. No worries, one more Republican president and I'm sure they'll edit it out again. That is, if they don't put the whole film on the book-burning list. Because Jesus.

reply

What in the hell are you talking about?

reply

For MANY years (decades actually) the references by Henry to being like god were snipped from the film and not heard until they were restored comparatively recently.

reply

I'm just trying to figure out what a Republican President and Jesus had to do with this film lol...

reply

Well, not saying I agree or anything, but his interpretation is that Republicans are all Holy rollers who can only think through their Bibles and so when we next get a Republican President, things will be so idyllic in the United States that the President will have plenty of spare time to go excises comments about being like God from 80 + year old films.

Please understand, if I'm guessing correctly, this poster probably believed that once Obama was elected he was going to whip out the wand he got from Hogwarts and say "Change-O-ramus!" and make everything sunshine and unicorns crapping rainbows.

reply

Okay, fair enough (although I disagree about Republicans being "holy rollers). And yes, he probably really thought Obama was going to transform the USA into paradise. LOL now even his most ardent supporters realize they were conned.

reply

I disagree with his thinking as well. It's just my interpretation of his post.

reply

Rather bizarre that this particular poster somehow believes the President is somehow responsible for film censorship.

Frankenstein was a pre-Hayes Code film. The original edits came about due to the demands of state censorship boards (notably Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, and Kansas). Of these four states, three of them had Democratic governors, including FDR in New York. The industry-wide standard of the Hays Code was implemented in 1934 after FDR had been elected President. So applying that poster's logic to this situation, FDR was responsible for censoring not only Frankenstein but decades of countless Hollywood films.

reply

Plus he knew about Pearl Harbor.

And faked the moon landing.

And had JFK killed.

Politicians are EEEEEEEVILLLLL, man

reply

Dr Frankenstein and the Monster were republicans

reply

And the villagers, running around in a mindless mob in their hysterical fear, were democrats.

reply

Yes, he has the most joy probably any human has ever had before but it won't last for long.

reply

It's my creation ooo my creation!

Yep, that's one nutty, iconic moment.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

So many have emulated, so few have succeeded.

Can't stop the signal.
