Why do females under 18 hate this film?

It's a masterpiece of cinema, was in the AFI top 100 in 1998, is in the AFI's top 10 epics list, is in the IMDb top 250, and yet, on average, females under 18 rate this 3.4. What gives? I'd have thought the combination of thoughtful drama and good-looking guys would make this a very popular film among the girls. Any thoughts?

EDIT: I just thought I'd add this: Females under 18 rate this 3.4, and they also rate Disaster Movie 3.9. Ok. That means that most females under 18 believe that Disaster Movie is better than All Quiet On The Western Front. Sh!t. I hate people and I love myself, and this just confirms it.

But that's only because the automated teller machineyolatrolamaton isn't working.

Its times like this I don't mind so much that I'm single.

But most of the time I do

If the visuals are the first things to be praised about a film, it generally means it's a bad film.

perhaps because they didnt grew up on cgi-only movies and thus learned that there is quality in movies made before thier time too.

There's a thread that asks this question on almost every film that's older than 40 years old.

My peers don't appreciate fine movies. This is one of the greatest films ever made.

I agree... When they're 19 they think they know everything, but they too will wake up and begin the cyclical journey of learning they really know nothing... and that is the first step to wisdom.

You notice too that the number of under 18 girls who bothered to even rate this is very low, which makes me think that most girls who watched this were dragged kicking and screaming to see it.
