People in the West really don't understand the real popularity of the so called "russian opposition" inside russia. They run around Europe and USA, living on grants, being vocal. But they don't represent anyone. They are basically hipsters and twitter-bloggers.
Navalny was not some huge opposition leader that half of russia supported. If putin would die and system collapsed and there would be "fair elections" then Navalny would get something like 5% of votes. If not less. And some putin ally would get 70%.
Absolute majority of russians, like 90% supports and worships putin. They would not vote for Navalny. And none of them even knows that Navalny had some wife and whats her name.
You could see there was no riots and anything after putin basically killed Navalny in prison. Everyone in russia barely noticed.
That's why Ukrainians, for example, give zero f*cks about so called "russian opposition in exile". Because they don't represent russians, they do no real harm to russian regime. They are useless. They are literally just some twitter bloggers. They sit on their twitter pages and tweet how "putin is bad" every day and that's it.
And they are even harmful because every time there are new sanctions against so called "ordinary russians" - those idiots throw tantrums and demand them to be excluded and that sanction must be only against putin and his accomplices. But "ordinary russians' should not be hurt.
