As an Evertonian, I acknowledge class when I see it.

Before Liverpool beat Toulouse 5-1 in the Europa League at Anfield on Thursday, the club marked the sad passing of Everton chairman Bill Kenwright by playing The Hollies song 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother'.

Liverpool said the song had been chosen because - as part of his and Everton's unwavering support for the victims of the Hillsborough disaster - Kenwright personally picked it to be played at Goodison Park following the release of the Hillsborough Independent Panel Report in September 2012.

Back in 2013, Kenwright paid tribute to victims of the Hillsborough disaster at a remembrance service at Anfield.

Also in Kenwright's honour, the players, managers and backroom staff wore black armbands.

'This city has two great football teams -- Liverpool and Liverpool Reserves' -- Bill Shankly.

Everton has always been a classy, proper football club too. Sporting rivalry and banter: good. Anything that takes it outside of that: foolish, silly, deplorable, belongs in the 70s.

But, yes, it was a nice touch from Liverpool.
