What basis you you have for calling him “false.” He was elected. Are you saying it was a fraudulent election?

But some say his election while the real pope was still alive, invalidated his papacy as well.

If the Cardinals elected him, he's the Pope. It's really that simple. The only way for him to be invalid is if the election were invalid.

Then "some" people are wrong. “Some” people do not know how Papal Elections work. If a pope chooses to resign, then another is elected. Benedict chose to resign, so another had to take his place.
People say lots of things when the simple truth is they aren't a fan of the person in charge. It doesn't make them true.
