Apparently, Vili and Mary Kay would host 'hot for teacher' parties to make a little extra money.
But yeah, it's funny just how many books, films, songs and other art forms touch on the topic of older/younger relations. I am really not that surprised when it happens in real life.
It seemed like the media was more critical than they usually are. I think it was because she got pregnant, and she was totally unapologetic. IIRC, she was talking like they were still in love and she'd still be with him if she could be. They actually got back together after she was let out. By then the boy was an adult, so it was legal.
She still wasn't judged nearly as harshly as a man would have been, though.
It was such a long time ago, I can't remember the initial reaction from the media but, as the years went by, she seemed to become almost like a celebrity, she did interviews and they made a movie based on their relationship. The movie made it look like they were just two misunderstood lovers.
And yeah, a man in a similar situation would have been vilified for life. lol...
