Is he trying to become a dramatic actor?

He's great doing comedic series/movies, why all of a sudden is he doing Faulkner flicks. Is he trying to go the Robin Williams route? Jim Carey tried, but he just ended disappearing into obscurity and losing his comedic edge.
We'll see if McBride succeeds where Carrey didn't.

Jim Carrey is incredible when he does drama. Eternal Sunshine and Truman Show are some of the best performances ever imo.

McBride WILL be able to move into drama. Just wait and see

Jim Carey didn't fail. He's a proffesional actor that makes more $$$ than you could dream about. Not sure what your idea of failure is.

Don't compare him to Jim Carey, JC has done some great dramatic roles, and pulled them off. Mcbride on the other hand ? Well I can't knock him tell he's tride it. But I can honestly say I have some serious doubts this guy can act. He's one lucky SOB, I don't think he's funny, but yet he's getting role after role in Hollywood. I'm sure he doesn't have to work again if doesn't want to.

Agreed. Don't know what this guy's on about. And let's not forget The Majestic. Great Carrey flick.

He was in plenty of dramas before he got known for comedies. He's great in both but I prefer him in comedies because he's just a naturally funny guy.

Agree with that. No one can make masturbation jokes sound funny like he does! :p

Plus I love how modest he seem to be in real life. He doesn't take himself too seriously and is apparently a really nice guy.

Yes he does seem to be a nice guy and that makes him all the more respectable.

There's a great interview on youtube when he was a guest on Marc Maron's WTF podcast. It's over an hour long and he talks about his life all the way from his childhood to this day. He has some really hilarious stories to tell. I had to pause it a couple of times because I was laughing so hard. Awesome guy!
