One Day at a Time actress Mackenzie Phillips recently discussed the decade-long incestuous relationship she had with her father, musician John Phillips—and why she's chosen forgiveness.

"Dad was something else," Mackenzie said during a sit-down with her sister Chynna Phillips Baldwin. "And I get a lot of criticism, and a lot of trolling online, for having forgiveness in my heart. Forgiveness, because forgiving is for me, not for the other person. And forgiving doesn't mean I cosign or agree with what I'm forgiving him for."

Reportedly they hated her for saying it and disputed it. But they could just be trying to protect his reputation and theirs.

Mackenzie is now estranged from everyone in her family except her half-sister Chynna.

She said the sex went on for ten years. It’d be hard to hide it for that length of time. Others had to have known about it or suspected if it was true.

If he did do it, I'm glad he's outed and wish she would have done so before he died so he could suffer from it.

If he didn't do it, what a horrible accusation that will forever smear his legacy.

Exactly, especially since he isn’t around to dispute it.

But who knows? Even his daughter Chynna said he was a monster with a dark side in the article.
