My vote is for Sideways, John Adams (HBO series), and Cinderella Man. He just brought a distinct beauty and power to those roles that make me remember them beyond all others.

Hard just to choose only three, but right now I'd say:

Sideways
Man On The Moon (brillant acting by both Giamatti and Carrey)
John Adams or Barney's Version (in case cinema-only)
