Jamie Farr is responsible for one of the worst acting jobs I have ever seen.

I recently saw the 1973 pilot film for The Blue Knight cop TV series from the mid-70s. Jamie Farr plays an Arab immigrant named Yasser Hafiz who gets mixed up in a prostitution sting.

Farr's acting in this is horrible! He's supposed to be a recent immigrant from an Arabic country and he just uses his normal midwestern American accent. He plays the scene like a total amateur or a high school drama student. He just grins and rattles off his lines in deadpan and seems like he's not even there, mentally.

I'm sure any person they could have pulled off the street would have done a better job. And Farr was already appearing on MASH at this point, so inexperience is not an excuse.

I looked for it and found this:

All those performances were miles ahead of Yasser Hafiz. Maybe he found the character insulting and botched the performance on purpose?

I frankly didn't know Farr was Arab until I googled him tonight. 1973, that was after MASH started on tv. So his Klinger character was already known. Surprised they cast him as an Arab to begin with.
