I swear he looks more like Superman when he's NOT playing Superman

I'll often see random pictures of Cavill (on the red carpet, etc.) and think, "Wow he's the perfect Superman." But in his actual Superman movies he always looks a little off model somehow. Might be the hair, I think. Weird phenomenon.

I think its the hair, in MoS he looked very much like the 1986 John Byrne 'Man of Steel' Superman with wavy/curly hair, but in BvS they gave him the bizarre slicked back/to the side with oil hair (which really accentuated his receded hairline), but in both movies his hair was parted on the 'wrong' left side for superman and didn't have an 'S' curl. and for Clark in BvS i think he had it styled the correct way/style for superman! (if you consider Christopher Reeve's Superman his hair was oil slicked to the left side for Clark, then the Superman hair was styled opposite and had the wavy look with the 'S' curl) in JL i think his hair was actually styled the 'correct' way. but no S curl.

Yet in various red carpet appearances his hair is styled the correct 'Superman way' and even has an S curl!

(Brandon Routh also had his hair styled the wrong way for Superman - styled the same way as Clark!)

I agree. I think the same about Afleck too. Hell, I thought the same about Brosnan's Bond. Somehow these "perfect for the role" guys always miss the mark when put into costume/character.
