How can you get 30 years (15 each per person) yet leading to death is only 5-6 years?

So strange how rape is worse than taking extinguishing a life. Even if it's just manslaughter you'd think it'd at least be more than rape since the person still is living and can continue on while when you're dead, no more you.

It is a problem and the rational rapist will now realize that they are better off killing the victim so they just get 5 to 10 for murder instead of letting the victim live and getting 15... not to mention the rapist that murders the victim is more likely to evade justice than the one that lets the victim live to testify.

The reality is the over the top sentence opens up yet another avenue for an appeal.
