Because the *best* case scenario here is that she's been the victim of abusive parents. The worst is that she has a serious and intractable mental illness, and won't be able to care for herself.
I don't believe there's been any evidence WHAT. SO. EVER. her parents abused her. This girl was tweeting the President for help for Christ's sake. Her parents were in favor of this and - unlike Britney - this girl did everything right. She is living in a facility, admitted mistakes, and worked hard to gain her freedom.
